Z-axis error - Arizona 250gt

I am running an Oce Arizona 250GT, which Canon recently stopped servicing "end of life for this model." Upon startup it is failing to initialize the z-axis. Any thoughts or troubleshooting tips?

It may be damaged Z-axis motor, may be damaged plastic thing, which connect Z-axis motor with the carriage body. Also it's possible that something is wrong with the communication inside the printer. Z-axis motors have encoders, which may give wrong data. Generally speaking it's difficult to find a reason remotely. I guess you don't have SDS key?

Check the little plugs by the posts, on the 360 there should be a red light on the left and right motor.
