Automation Software for Roland VersaWorks

Hello


We have problems with the work flow.

we have a Roland LEF-20

we have a custom lasercut Jig for cellphone cases


lets say we got 300 orders of cellphone cases a day and we want them to be printed with white under coat + CMYK + gloss coating.


What we need:

1. create a file where we have a jig template what fits to our jig, the jig template will be filled automaticly with the pictures for all the cell cases (without adding 300 cases by hand... it would take to long)


2. now we have the template filled with the pictures for the cases, now we need the white under coat + CMYK + gloss coating... ( that needs to be done automaticly too...)


3. print it


it would be perfect if step 1 and 2 would be one step


if you have any idea what software could do that that would be helpfule

There is no such software. Not to sound too snarky, but it sounds like you need a dedicated employee to setup files and manage workflow.

One suggestion: If all of the files are the same size and are the same distance from each other on the jig, load all of the files into Versaworks, they will nest automatically and then you can just enter how much space to put between each job to match the jig. This will make it so you won't have to manually layout each job and should save you some time once you get it dialed in correctly. It will probably take a few tries to get it perfect but may be worth it in your case.

Using Wasatch SoftRIP, you can make re-useable templates to speed up layout. Once you have your template set up, you can just load the template and drop your files on. They will fill up the slots in your template and automatically be laid out. This, of course, will not work in conjunction with VersaWorks, though.

Not aware of any software that can do this, but would be interested in it if you do find something. Where are you getting the cell phone cases?

this could be done with photoshop actions automating to a template. It would save a file that would load right into versa works ready to print.

That being said, it will take a few hours to setup, test, and troubleshoot margins and things.
