Is it necessary to change dampers and when replacing a head

We just replaced a head on our Roland but we have another that has been out of commission for about 6 weeks or so, it has been doing its cleaning cycles but no ink has been going through the head. Does the ink affect the ink lines or damper system if it isnt circulated constantly like the head. So when I replace this junked head with a new one, will it clog because of some buildup in the dampers or lines since it hasn't moved in a while.

I always do change the dampers with a new head. There are filters in them that do fail and can allow particles to get into the head. It;s worth changing them just for peace of mind.
