I remove and ban around 10 new "users" a day. I've made requests for services to filter these new members but they have been lost in the abyss.
Doing as best I can to keep this place clean.
I don't know how you guys handle it. Moderating a place is one thing, moderating one that refuses any anti spam measures is another.
There's a ton of add-ons for xenforo to prevent bots. Ones that aren't even obtrusive to regular users who sign up...
It bugs me seeing 4-5 new Viagra threads every single night. I can easily ignore it for sure, but it feels unprofessional.
Imagine someone entering your shop everyday with a bottle of Viagra promising your customers the world. He'd be out on his ass in no time, and you'd make sure it didn't happen again. You wouldn't hire a voulenteering bodyguard to throw him out, but tell him he can only do so after the guy hawks his magic pills. You'd find a way to prevent him from entering in the first place.
That stuff should be taken care.of automatically, with moderators fixing anything that slips through the cracks, and dealing with other problems. You guys have more patience than I do, I'd have given up by now.
The only things I miss about the old site is the policy enforcement. Fred was great about spam, and keeping all the ice cream label posts to a minimum.
Don't get me wrong, I still love this place. I just think it could be better with minimal effort, and without affecting the bottom line. In its current state, it feels slightly abandoned.
