roland sc500 lpt to usb connection problems

hi guys. as the title says i have a roland sc500. as the machine is so old it uses an lpt cable but my laptop doesnt have that particular connection. so im using my windows 7 laptop with an lpt to usb adapter lead and im also using flexi pro 8.6. but it wont work. windows says the lead is connected and working but it says there is no printer attached. do i need a driver for the printer??

i hope someone can help me with this problem.

hi venderj, thank you for the reply. that solution didnt work for me unfortunately. attached are the messages i recieve when the roland printer is connected via the lpt to usb adapter. this might shed some light on the problem im having.
