Roland VersaCamm sp300i - load media?

I must be missing something simple but can't quite figure it out. I have a roll that is 30" wide, confirmed by a tape measure, but when I install it in the Roland, the max size I have been able to achieve is 28.4". If I centre the media on the machine, and setup my rollers and guides, it actually goes down in size to around 24" give or take a few sub inches. Clearly, I am not loading the media correctly but watching YouTube videos etc, I see other people centre their roles, so not sure why if I move the media away from the right side of the printer, (side where the head is parked) the media size goes down - what am I missing?!?

Thanks!

This should be in the manual, however.
You can not print the full 30"....its been a long time since I have used one however I think 28.4" sounds about right for a 30" roll.
You will only be printing BETWEEN the rollers, not to the edge of the vinyl.

Hope that helped.

The workable media width is calculated by the machine when you clamp the rollers down. The cutting head will travel to both roller positions when you clamp the rollers down. If you put the rollers on the absolute edge of the media, you will get the maximum print/cut size, which on my SP-300V is about 29" (0.5" margin on either side). This is one of those margin situations, like how on a desktop printer you can only use 95% of the paper unless it's using borderless printing (which VersaCamm printers will not do). Don't forget to raise your clamps when you're done printing as a best practice.

Thanks, much appreciated. Wasn't 100% if the Roland could do full bleed or not - thanks!!

Thanks - much appreciated - feel better now that it's me, and not the machine lol
