Stainless deep etching possible ???

hi,
i´d like to etch a stainless, but a little deep , about 0,039in or 1mm with ordinary acids at home.
i´ve found this, but i´m not sure if it´s enough strong to do it :)

A. The stainless Etching system solution.

(1)
HF : 30 cc/l
NH2HF : 50 g/l
HNO3 : 100 cc/l 50 C" temp

(2)
HCl (35%) : 300 cc/l
H2SO4 (98%) : 200 cc/l room temp

it should look like this, the first pic at the top (smooth etching) is perfect.

the purpose of my work is to make a memorial plaque for a deceased friend.
i´d appreciated any tip to finish my work :)

Would anyone be so kind to share his/her experieces? thanks!

i do tons of deep aluminum etching. just do a lot of testing. and as far as the smooth vs. pebbled etch, you'd be surprised by how attractive the pebbled surface looks when compounded. i'd also suggest, doing the etch first. then peeling off your entire resist and sinking the part for another loss of .005 or so. this will knock down the mill finish. mill looks really cheap when doing projects like this. the result will be a more "cast" look.
