Question Versacamm SP540V - Want to cut without having to put in any ink

I stopped using my machine and now it won't print, but I'd like to use it as a cutter, but it says it needs ink. Is there a way to use it without having to put in ink cartridges?

i would fill all the cartridges with flushing solvent.

jim,
if he refills the existing cartridges with flush, will it satisfy the chips?

if not, buy a set of refillable cartridges on ebay & fill them with flush

The big thing is chips that still have ink life. The cartridges don't have to have ink in them, just put tape over the area on the cartridge where the empty tab comes out. It's in the lower front side of the cartridge. Or using refillable carts will work, but an additional expense.
