What to use for pinset pins?

We're starting to do more and more flat cut acrylic letters with our Zund, and I'm wanting to do some pinset letters here at our office. We've installed a ton of that others have made, I'm just not sure what to use or where to get the material to be used as the pins. We can drill the holes with the router, and I was thinking of using some 1/16" headless brad nails. What do you guys use?

with sintra i use headless brads, heat it up with a torch, and let the heat set it in...with acrylic I might think about actually tapping 1/16 or 1/8 inch studs...or headless brads with epoxy? never done it.
