Winging it!

Just finished this. All eastern white pine, 5/4x52" long. Stained black with 5 coats of poly.

The bird is 5/4 thick and 10" high. All hand carved....no sanding and stained with stains that I make and coated with poly. It is mounted off the ground with stainless steel screws.

Thanks,

Joe, Makin Chip$ and Havin Fun!

Outstanding !!

Is the bird connected from behind with screws or do you just rely on good glues.

I would imagine you pegged it or biscuit jointed it with glue, but I was just wondering ??

Thanks everyone!

Gino, the bird is attached with 2 stainless steel screws from the back.....no glue.

When it needs re-coating, the bird can be easily removed to make the process simple.

Quit buggin' me
Detail work is over the top, looks like something I would want to keep inside out of the weather.
Thanks for posting up an example of a real sign.
