I don't have that printer, but a flatbed uv. Can you possibly put tape on the belt, or if that doesn't work, maybe tape a long strip of paper under the edge(s) which would receive the ink.

In any case, it needs to be practical not beautiful, as it will be in an industrial setting.

Our client wants us to build another sign in addition to this one that we didn't make. The face there was aluminum 0.63; also as you can see the welds did not hold up very well.
I'm thinking doing a thicker face, like 10mm alumalite and doing just a top and bottom reinforcement...

You’re right about testing the vinyl. I did a test but with another one and no transfer tape. Happened that the original one was being a bugger to weed… so I switched
Hi, I'm trying to put vinyl on a ribbon. The vinyl is not sticking to the ribbon we were handed, which has a kind of plasticky look but it's some kind of fabric.
I'm going to try with a polyester ribbon sample I bought next, but in the meantime, what may have worked for you?
