  1. Need Caldera and LX850 Help!

workflow matters If the preview in caldera looks wrong, it's most likely your color management setting within caldera that's set incorrectly. Scrutinize that your color management is indeed on and your input profiles are set appropriately.
  2. Spectrophotometer

Some hacks for doing backlit profiles are going through the process normally as if it's a common front lit application, then using either an adjustment curve (if your rip has one) or go back and tweak the linearization to boost the density. I've heard from several folks who are much better at...
  3. Color Management

Having a calibrated and profiled monitor is nice. But in order of importance, it's far below having good printer profiles and a properly setup workflow. You can have a black and white monitor and still have great color day in day out. A few basics to keep in mind regarding monitor...
  4. Color Management

What do you want to know? How to make the ICC or setup the workflow?
  5. Color Management

Listen to Terremoto (Dan), what he says is dead on. I worked for 15+ years as a consultant and color management trainer and worked for two color management software companies before opening my own shop. It can be a very simple subject once you get your head around the basics. You can get...

  9. onyx profiling

are you leaving the pantones in the file as pantones and not converting them to straight CMYK? It all hinges in the names. If Onyx finds a match in it's library, then you should get a pretty good match.
  10. First day of kindergarten

    +1 Priceless stuff there
  11. Triangle Inks

Triangle is likely the most proven and trusted 3rd party ink on the market. I don't think the fear, uncertainty, and doubt that are promoted by dealers and manufacturers is justified for Triangle. One of my installers was talking to an Avery product scientist about outgassing problems we're...
  12. Triangle Inks

6 years with Triangle in my JV3. Wouldn't have it any other way.
  13. Tutorial for icc profile creation

Don't confine your approach to any reference without a compelling reason. Just as sfr says, your 100% patch is your reference. If you really want to obsess, measure down the ramp from 100% until you find the highest C, then establish that as your reference.
  14. Any Caldera users?

WAY better than Onyx. Loving it for a year now.
  15. Onyx 10.2 and VideoNet Driver

Contact Mike at California Media Services (CMS). These guys have this stuff wired. There is a specific Intel network card that's 10/100, not 1000, that works best. I don't remember whether it needs a crossover cable or not. Mike will know.
