  1. 3d printing letters

I bought a 3D printer years ago for this reason. After many tests I decided there were too many drawbacks to do any sort of volume. Artwork prep time, filament for outdoor durability, sanding and finishing prints, time to print, etc. It did work, but overall not viable process in my opinion.
  2. Oracal 651 15" punched no more?

We're seeing stock issues with many of our punched films we use. I can tell you for certain though Oracal has had some quality issues with 651 lately. The latest lot has not been lifting from backing paper properly. I would look at 3M or Avery. Grimco's brightline line would also work.
  3. HP Latex 570 length of downtime?

I bought a used 26500 several years ago and it had been sitting for 6 months unplugged. It had about 80% heads firing after first plug in. You can remove the trouble heads and clean with distilled water to break up the dried ink. I was able to get all the heads to come back.
  4. USPS Craziness

I ship a lot USPS and there have been more issues this summer with delivery times than ever. I've seen packages going to Michigan taking 2 weeks to arrive to customers via priority mail. My fedex delivery driver said they were delivering as many packages now as they do during Christmas season.
  5. How should I do this?

    USB
  6. How should I do this?

It should handle that size no problem, I've cut very complicated wraps at 25' before. Sounds like either a software bug or possibly a cut path with something odd in it. Sometimes I can simplify a path in Illustrator if there is a cutting issue with it.
  7. How should I do this?

I do this all the time on my Summa. 15-20ft wraps on first try with perfect cuts. I use the "OPOS paneling" option on the cutter. Keep in mind this is not the same as the software paneling. The feature has to be enabled on the cutter or the cutter control software. You send the job...
  8. Metallic Vinyl Stickers

I use my Gerber Edge solely for this sort of work. Chrome, reflective, gold leaf, ultra metallics, etc. The rest I run on my HP 560. I did see Mimaki demoing their smaller 54" UV printer printing on chrome mirror though and laminating which would technically also work for this.
  9. Interesting dilemma

I deal with this literally weekly in the niche I work in. Physical sample/proof is the only solution that people can understand consistently I've found. Most of my customers don't know why you use Pantone colors or what it means. You really need a proof/color/return policy in writing on...
  10. Stay CS6? Or Upgrade to CC? What am I gaining?

I look at this differently than some other people. It isn't like this software is $100/m. I pay around $20/m for Illustrator which in my mind is a great value for what you receive. I use Illustrator off and on all day long probably more than any other software. At this point you are missing...
  11. Rasterlink only cuts using a Mimaki plotter?

Your summa has free software from summa to both add registration marks to files in illustrator or corel before printing. Their software winplot actually drives the plotter. https://www.summa.eu/en/vinyl-cutter-downloads
  12. overspraying cyan but not when I actually print blue?

If I recall correctly back when we used JV3s, when you started to get over spray it was typically a print head malfunctioning and needed replacement.
  13. Mimaki print cut or print only

If you're laminating I think using the Summa is much much easier. A friend of mine has your exact setup and uses his Summa 95% of the time rather than cutting on the Mimaki. Not that the Mimaki is bad it is just slower and you'll find the you need to plan ahead because the cut marks are not...
  14. How do you handle payments?

I primarily deal with online sales for the last 10+ years and obviously paypal and credit card are the norm. Charge backs are just part of doing business and as long as you have good documentation of what the person ordered and what you provided along with your policies in writing they...
  15. What printer should I buy? Latex or UV?

UV Roll to Roll machines have a narrow use case. For most normal sign shops and eco solvent or latex would be a better fit. As with any recommendation it would be helpful if you shared what you plan on printing on? Vinyl, banner, wall mural, fabric, etc? The HP latex printers load a little...
