  • Sepiax ruined my 7800 - the heat that supposed to dry the inks does just that - dries the ink...in the printhead - after 3 hours of nonstop printing it just stopped spitting ink. No amount of power cleaning helped.
I built my own heater, it worked beautifully on short jobs. Apparently it's a known issue - that's what the guy from GraphicsOne told me - they're are in my backyard and I know them pretty good. I have a Mutoh RJ900 that I run Sepiax - w no heat. Works great and it's cheaper than other inks I used to print with. Anyway, back to your question - if you have pigment inks, go ahead, buy some inkaid (just look it up), apply to your aluminum sheet (clean it first, of course - w any solvent - acetone, MEK, whatever degreaser is there), let it dry, stick it into the machine - make sure you have "biggest gap" and print away. Clear coat after the print is done - don't use any spray can crap - take it to a body shop have it done w commercial grade clear coat.
What inks are you printing with? I've been interested in the sepix inks but have been told the system is not their yet. I have a 7700 with pigment ink ans a Falcon Jr. I am interest in Graphic One Epson 9700 with sepix ink.
