Yes indeed, BVG ... we have wasted so many hundreds of hours of production time waiting for the Roland to finish cutting jobs when we really needed to be printing! Better than cutting off the little white tab at the bottom of the cartridge is ... tape it "in" with 2" blue 3M painters tape so it doesn't protrude out from the cartridge. The tab sticking out tells the machine "I'm out of ink, time to spend $130 more on ink!"
