  1. Canon Colorado M Series.

I talked to Canon at ISA23. The white ink feature activation is around $6000 USD. They think the white ink will be 30% to 50% more than CMYK per liter.
  2. Canon Colorado M Series.

The 1650 is about $70,000 USD and the 1630 $40,000 to $50,000 depending on add-ons. Maintenance plans are an additional cost. I'd guess the M series are similar priced since the M changes are incremental, but the white ink capability is a low 5 figure add-on. I'll be asking at ISA!
  3. Western US trade vendor for banners

Thanks. Cathy was really helpful. Firesprint and Signs365 both print their banners in Michigan, which is further than I want to deal with shipping and risks from cross dock damage.
  4. Western US trade vendor for banners

Good Morning I'm looking for a trade vendor in the Western US (ideally Seattle area) who can print single sided 72x120" banners on 13oz or thicker media with hems and grommets. My customer is used to banners with photos that I run on an Epson S40600, so inkset with comparable gamut and dmax...
  5. Questions on Epson Surecolor F570

Sublimation ink works with polyester fabric only, but it dies the fabric as opposed to sitting on top like HTV. I would recommend talking to Conde Systems about your applications and the F570. They have been my sublimation supplier since 2004 and are solid Epson resellers and have excellent support.
  6. UV printing ornaments

I'm looking for a solution for printing photos and scanned paintings for holiday ornaments on small pieces of aluminum or steel with highly saturated colors and fine detail. Two UV printers that I have looked at are Direct Color System's 1800 series and Epson's V7000. Both have 1.5 picoliter...
  7. Wrapping a powder coated electrical transformer

I have a customer request to wrap a powder coated outdoor transformer cabinet. I would be using 3m IJ180C with overlaminate. I have a few concerns The cabinet dimensions are 45Dx92Hx148L The cabinet may get warm The powder coat has a dimpled texture (see photos) that may create voids The air...
  8. Summa S2 Cutting Sheets...

Yes, but contour cutting is way faster and makes nicer edges.
  9. Summa S2 Cutting Sheets...

We're still at the testing stage and have done a few dozen posters. I'm bidding a job for 1300 posters that I'm planning to cut with this process. A flatbed cutter would be a better tool, but we don't have one. Yet.
  10. Summa S2 Cutting Sheets...

My team has successfully cut Briteline 9mm poster paper with our S2T's tangential knife. The trick is to to experiment with cut depth like you would "die" cutting stickers so that there is just enough backing to hold together, but pop apart when flexed. You'll need to allow adequate spacing...
  11. Moving large format printers.

Rent a liftgate truck and move the printer yourself. The user manual or an Epson unboxing video on Youtube should show all of the places where they tape or clamp components during shipping. Keep in the mind that the 40600 is top heavy and does not ship assembled so it is imperative that you move...
  12. Metallic Toner trade printer

I'm looking for a trade printer who could print 5000 to 15000 8.5x11 5/0 90gsm certificates with a gold ink official seal. The certificates will need to be able to go through an office copier or desktop laser printer. The trade printer would ideally be in the western US or better yet, Seattle...
  13. Slitter, Cutter, Creaser - non sign related

Here's a relevant thread on the graph wizard product. I have a Duplo 646 that is ok, but needs constant tweaking. Next slitter/cutter/creaser will be Horizon. https://printplanet.com/threads/standalone-creaser-or-creaser-slitter-cutter.290855/
  14. Has anyone replaced their Maxi press teflon shuttle with another material?

I'd worry about poly getting worn out from the heat, but it wouldn't cost much to experiment. ahh.biz sells a variety of exotic industrial fabrics including steel fabric that might work for this application.
  15. British Columbia is cut off from the mainland. Washington State Supplier Needed!

Grimco, WCP Solutions. Sonoma Graphics Products, JVH Tech, Sun Supply, and AIrmark have Seattle warehouses. I'm in Alaska and take advantage of the free local delivery many of them provide to ship to a freight consolidator for air cargo or ocean freight. Alaska Air Forwarding is really great to...
  16. Summa S2T - die cutting with a drag knife

Thanks. I had to play with the pressure from what I was setting for the tangential tool, but got good "die" cuts.
  17. Epson S40600 grainy output

I compared the profile that I setup with a 3m IJ35-10 profile in Epson Edge dashboard and reduced the platen gap from 2 to 1.6, which made a huge improvement in image quality. I'll post more details soon.
  18. Epson S40600 grainy output

The Onyx prints looked identical. I'm using an Orofil profile for Flexi due to Grimco not publishing Flexi profiles. The media is Briteline IM3222 matte.
  19. Epson S40600 grainy output

I tried 4 pass and 6 pass. 8 and 12 pass out of Flexi result in puddles.
  20. Summa S2T - die cutting with a drag knife

I have been successfully "die" cutting stickers with the tangential knife on my Summa S2T140. Unfortunately, the plastic top of the tangential tool holder came off and I need to switch to the drag knife until a replacement tangiental holder arrives. Can I diecut simple shapes like circles with...
