I'm sure there is an "evil" business-related motive behind the automatic updates in Windows 10. However there is a practical angle as behind the practice too.
Many computer users are very lazy about applying updates, even when a certain update is an urgent security matter or just 100% in their...
Normally there should be three distinctly different icons for AI, PDF and EPS files when Adobe Creative Cloud and Illustrator CC is installed. The EPS icon is white and has a little Bezier path thing above the EPS letters. The icon is still associated with Adobe Illustrator and will launch...
The correct typeface is Avenir Next Extra Bold. The "2", "3" and especially the "5" are big indicators. Avenir Next is a system typeface for Mac OSX and iPad OS. However, the square dots in the phone number are customized. The stock period dots in Avenir and Avenir Next are circular. There...
There are enough complaints about crash issues with the Find-Replace function over in the CorelDRAW 2021 user forum that there is little doubt over it being a bug.
Some of the issues I've been seeing with type will vary from one type family to the next. But the same fonts work normally in other...
The text on arc effect in SignLab doesn't look fundamentally any different than similar effects in CorelDRAW, Illustrator or other industry specific CAS applications. It's just a matter of how it is rotating individual letters. Some of the same problems remain. If the letters are too large or...
I don't know a lot about Smart Designer, but at first glance it just looks like a collection of canned templates where you change the lettering in pre-existing designs.
I am not fond of the standard Text on Path effects within CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator for the reasons you describe. The results often end up looking pretty wacky because the effect is only rotating the letters and often not doing the best job of it either. Any letters that are wide at all...
I never used Inspire. I used its fore-runner, CASmate for several years. Our shop wasn't very interested in upgrading to Inspire. Not long after Inspire was developed Amiable Technologies and Scanvec merged to create Scanvec-Amiable (later SAi). We ended up switching our CASmate dongles to...
Didn't see this making a lot of news headlines. The passing of Charles Geschke is noteworthy, given he and John Warnock laid the foundation for much of what we do with computer graphics. It was almost an accident that Geschke pursued a career in computing. He had been a college professor and a...
CorelDRAW has never had unlimited zoom-out (or zoom-in for that matter). No vector drawing application has such a thing; all have limits.
For the longest time the maximum art board size in CorelDRAW has been 1800" X 1800". That's the "drawing space" limit. And the maximum zoom-out level can...
No. The color temperature of sunlight changes throughout the day. At its brightest during midday it will be around 6500K. The color temperature can go higher on overcast days. By sunset it's around 3000K. Professional photographers often carry a gray card in their camera bags to set custom white...
Laminates do only so much to protect printed inks from UV radiation. Plus the effects of weather take their toll over time. The stuff is not as durable as the stock colored high intensity retro-reflective vinyls. But the digital printed approach can be less expensive. Ultimately it's a trade-off...
What I mean is that you can't simply print flat colors onto any kind of standard vinyl and expect that to pass for highway sign standards.
The only kinds of printing that can be done is various degrees of transparent/translucent printing onto clear vinyl as an overlay on white Type III high...
I'm still seeing the same font handling issues that were present in CDR 2020. Some font files don't show up in the font menu. I think the root cause is how CorelDRAW and its font manager treat upright versus italic fonts. Some fonts can be accessed by clicking the Italic button on the toolbar...
Because creating alternate characters is a better approach for most kinds of typefaces. OpenType technology allows for that and many other bonuses which enable superior quality typography. Plenty of contemporary fonts made over the past 20 years have taken advantage of the extended features of...
I can't help with the font ID. But it's possible that script lettering may be from a stock typeface rather than hand drawn. Quite a few newer script typefaces with extended OpenType character sets will contain various alternates for the same letter to appear more like a natural hand-drawn script.
