I run two envision 375's - check blade under a jewelers loop - check cutting strip - quality of vinyl. also when second files sent to plot- I have to check pressures etc. - they save the prm file from last run.
as for changing during job - maybe vinyl or head related- check blade to be fully...
I think blade depth in the holder is the most important thing- Vinyl plus laminate - were talking microns right? Pressure is one thing, but I am assuming you have a blade holder, that you can adjust its depth
the simple and very basic program signblazer can run it. PM me and I can send you a copy. run in windows 7 compatibility mode.
You will likely spend time with your parralel ports, and a little more time if you need a parallel to USB adaptor.
I have printed on Edge and used a graphtec plotter thru flexi. Unless I was missing something... the crop marks take up print width - was only able to print 9.5 inches or so wide.

Which Gerber printer do you have?
I used to run my Edge with Flexi 8 - and finally bought gerber software. I can't speak to signlab software... but you should get a version Gerber CP software. Tons of people have Omega, its designed for that machine and you will get more help overall.

maybe check your USB ports - I don't know how, but I have heard sometimes they turn off with inactivity.
