  1. Can anyone do fine printing?

If you magnify anything enough it will look like crap :D Who looks at print under extreme magnification? When you print something it is designed to be looked at using someones eyes, not examined with a microscope. If you zoom in enough on an offset press it will also 'look like crap'
  2. Can anyone do fine printing?

It will also depend on which printer you have, and the settings. On a Roland solvent printer if you print from vectors in high quality and overlay 2 times, the output will come out looking pretty much the same as screen printing. Because of the overlaying you don't end up with any visible...
  3. Can anyone do fine printing?

Have you actually seen other peoples print though? That pic you have posted is a photoshop mock up, not a photo of an actual race car...
  4. Vs-640i no printing yellow ink

It may be ink starvation from air in the ink hose. Trace back the hose all the way from the damper to the ink cartridge and check there are no clogs, and also there are no leaks. The o-rings in the brass nuts can fail and let air in, normally around the cartridge dock.. If you are getting some...
  5. Contour around text in CorelDraw 2019

    More like this ?
  6. Contour around text in CorelDraw 2019

OK what you need to do is to add two contours, then ungroup them. You can then select the two contours and combine them into one object. This will leave you with the text, a gap, and then the contour as a separate object. Also before doing a contour, convert the text to curves as this will give...
  7. Contour around text in CorelDraw 2019

Do you mean so it would look like this if used on a black shirt for example?
  8. Xc540 error

Sensor issues can often be quite random. As so many parts of the printer interact with each other, one sensor can cause something else to happen that can give a different error code.
  9. Xc540 error

It's worth trying, but it is very unusual to ruin an encoder strip when installing. Even if it was damaged in the middle, the printer would still read up to the damaged point ok. Also cleaning a sensor wouldn't help if the actual sensor itself is faulty, or if there is a problem with the board...
  10. Xc540 error

Yes that would be the correct sensor
  11. Roland sp-300 looking for printing help.

For the blue tinge in the gradient it is because the printer will often print black/grey by mixing the CMYK colours to create it. If your magenta and yellow are printing as badly as yours are then it won't give a smooth black to grey gradient. You can change this on actual artwork by printing...
  12. Roland sp-300 looking for printing help.

I agree, the banding is caused by the missing nozzles on your yellow head. Do a test print from service mode as well, this will show you how the small nozzles are firing as well as the the large ones. It really depends if the nozzles are just clogged, or if they are actually dead how well...
  13. Electrical issue with printer head CJV150

That overspray is actually quite bad. If its only happening on one colour, normally it will be down to a head fault. The test print often won't show problems that happen when you are actually printing things. It could be something physical like a hair or bit of fluff on the surface of the...
  14. Helping a school with a VS-540i that won't print.

I agree, but would never suggest pushing solution through the head from the top. This is really a last resort as it is very easy to break the internal ink pouch ( it's not a gasket, it's a very thin plastic bag that holds the ink inside the head ) if you don't have experience doing it !
  15. Xc540 error

The little knob is just a knob, it doesn't have any sensing. I'm not that familiar with the layout of the XC, but there should also be a sensor on the right hand side that senses when the print head is in the docked position. It will look something like this ( the black part ). This is so the...
  16. Helping a school with a VS-540i that won't print.

Also, there may be ink in the hoses, but they can still be blocked at the cartridge dock end. They really need removing and fully flushing
  17. Helping a school with a VS-540i that won't print.

If its been sitting for a year then head soaking is very unlikely to get the heads back working fully. The solvent evaporates and leaves the pigment, which blocks the nozzles in the head. Really it is going to need new heads, probably a new pump, dampers, wiper and captop. When you do a poweful...
  18. Xc540 error

Thats a shame. Was the motor you fitted an OEM one or one of the chinese copies? They copies don't always work as well as they should! It could be to do with the pinch sensor to the right of the head. Maybe the printer isn't registering the head is there properly on startup. Other than that...
  19. Xc540 error

That is normal for most aftermarket ones as they are normally supplied longer than needed. You just cut it to the proper length and make a hole in the other end yourself for the fixing screw. The end with the hole is where the spring goes on the left hand side of the printer. The markings should...
  20. US Cutter Plotters

I haven't used one myself but I know someone who uses one pretty regularly for their internal signs they make, and it seems to work pretty well. They probably won't last that long with heavy use or specialist materials, but should be ok as an emergency backup. One thing I would say is make sure...
