lol.. "it is unfortunate mentality that is hurting a small sign shop"..... ummm Seriously???
you just told the OP to charge 20 dollars for a decal and 15 dollars to install it. Yet you're blasting someone for not understanding value.. are you okay?
Yeah no kidding. I use to be pretty active on here, but the sheer amount of "experts" who are on here giving such awful advice to people starting up a business is just always so deterring. Then you got the snowflake group coming in from left field defending them. Pass.
i respect your, um, hustle. But please do not give advice to people when it's actually this awful. It's actually damaging to someone trying to build a successful business.
You lost me at "doing stuff on the side"
Conflict of interest for the company who hired you, and put hundreds of hrs into training and investing in you.
your install failed, fix it. Move on.
Weird concept - Personally our quality doesn't change, no matter the customer. But.. i do get where you're coming from.. which is why we're strictly business to business.
Banner is a dead art in our area. With website selling them for a buck a square (good for them) There's no competing. I can't remember the last time i had a large banner order.
lol...people wonder why they can't scale. This thread is a prime example. It's beyond depressing that amount of people who are on here destroying our industry.
First. I would be using IJ180 CV3 With 3M 8518 lamination.
$128 per vehicle for those printed decals. Nothing less. Install would run...
ha...im sorry. Before i come out and give pricing, you gotta put your foot forward, and tell us what you want to charge him. You're asking people to do the work for you...as mentioned above. Go to work.
also you use laminate and cast vinyl. ON ANY THING THAT PERTAINS TO VEHICLES.
This has nothing to do with experience. It's just common sense. I'm trying really hard to be cordial, and respectful - but yes you ARE in-fact destroying the market doing what you do. If you ever want to grow, what are you going to do when you need to lease a bigger space? Get more equipment...
I'm honestly at a loss for words. I think you're missing the point. This is a professional sign forum where professionals come and get advice on how to become better. Giving someone advice that it is ok.. TO DO OKAY work and charge less for it.. is just really disappointing to see.
Huh? How am I cutting anyone down? This is hard truths, and facts and they might actually thank me for it.
I'm happy for you not having overhead, and able to charge cheaper prices. Honestly that isn't the way to grow your business. Overhead should only set a minimum, and then charge...
Welcome from Denver. As mentioned above good luck in your new market. A lot goes into it - more than you could ever imagine. I've always been a stickler about "Perfect what you know, and then perfect it again" If we do not know how to do something we do no do it, period. We could learn, sure -...
I think where you're rubbing people the wrong way is how you're talking about opening in another location.,. lol that is a silly thing to do. We serve 4 states all around us. It's absolutely pointless. You're better off head hunting who you want rather than buying our an entire company to get them
Goals are important. Your employees are everything. Walking away for a month is not easy. Some people are lucky enough to have "business partners" who are family.. and they care as much as they do... well sometimes... You want to train your employees to think like owners, and when they reach...
