  1. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

Have you looked in your area? I see people trying to give away l255s all the time in my area. If you're willing to him it to the garbage when you're done scavenging it for parts, most places will give it to you.
  2. 4x8 custom printed coroplast sign

Do you have a laminator? I still don't get how anyone on this business can own a solvent printer but not a laminator.... Unless they only print banners or textiles. If you don't have one,.it's time to buy one! You'll stop producing garbage products and it'll take you 1 min to mount a 4x8
  3. FedEx graphics install

Take some of the vinyl you cut away when you weeded the f and do an underlay roughly the shape of where the decal well land over the recess... Not past it, just over it. Apply like normal, stretch it a little bit into the channel, cut it, then push it in with no stretching. You're hand cutting...
  4. Layered vinyl on desk with no tape

We do 10 FT multi layer decals for airplanes all the time. You make a registration box.... Cut every color, then just use the registration box to layer it with a rolls roller table. Then you're only using 1 sheet of premask... but you still need pre-mask. You can remove it after for photos or...
  5. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

Curious what makes you.think the 115 is a throw away? 99% of the parts are the same as the 315, and I'd say it's built roughly the same. Granted latexs are more plasticy than it's counter parts... But they still last a pretty long time.
  6. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

HP is your onlymoption for latex. You could get an Epson resin... Which is pretty much latex, but it'd be above your budget... And it's new, so I'd stay away. 310 isn't bad... But imo, pick up a used 560... They're everywhere out there and cheap. Pigment ink isn't really UV proof... Or...
  7. Need help loading Onyx Gamaprint

You can upgrade through onyx. Think it's usually $1000 to get it upgraded to the newest version with a year of upgrades... Maybe more since it's printer specific. Onyx 22 is around the corner, so now is a good time to do it. I don't know how gamaprint works... But if it was non gama, getting...
  8. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

I had a few diff latexs and then went solvent due to not liking the wasted 2 ft of material everytime I printed. My volume was low, so I got rid of it and went with a solvent. I loved the solvent - nice prints, could print by wasting only 10" (I don't wear gloves, so if I print right at the...
  9. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

The head is likely recoverable.... Depending on how long it's been sitting. But you'll likely need new ink lines if they're clogged... I believe new cap tops / and a slew of other things. It's not impossible to get it working, but I'm not familiar with the machine... And the general advice...
  10. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

has it been in use? If its been sitting there doing nothing for a long period of time... odds are it needs more maintenance than it's worth, including possibly new heads worth a couple grand. If its been in use...It's not a bad printer.
  11. What printer for the hobbyist which got enough of L25500?

Solvent printers come with their own problems. If you're not printing every 2-3 days, a solvent isnt the right choice for you. It wastes quite a bit of ink doing head cleanings as well - You dont have a maintenance cartridge, but it'll still spit all the ink out into a bottle that you have to...
  12. Opinion I think a light bulb just went off today................................................

I don't mind hobbyists. I also don't mind the rich folk who buy a business then need to learn how to run it. I think it's more about eticate than anything. The workers / sign shop owners want to learn, they want to find out how to do something properly and do it well. They will research, then...
  13. Opinion I think a light bulb just went off today................................................

Opening it up to more people = more visitors, which means more ad revenue. It's a shame because quality of the posts go down ... Unfortunately with a niche forum like this, not much you can do besides ads to make money. Merchant memberships are good, premium subscribers are good... But...
  14. What is the best way to roll up cut vinyl with application tape installed?

99% of my sales are online with pre mask. I used to use grimcos pre mask since that's what I was used to... But it tended to lift a lot. Now I use 3m scps-55. It's about 40% more per roll... But it grabs onto the backer paper way better and doesnt tunnel as much while being in the mail. I...
  15. Need Help Envision SV480...

It'll be months. 3m is having tons of supply issues... I waited 8 months for some black 3m vinyl. I'd say look for an alternative - are you after it because it's PVC free or just for the extra stretch?
  16. Brick Vinyl

https://www.wensco.com/ecomm_images/items/large/ij8624.png google 8624 brick wall and goto images. It's done all the time. We use 8624 for concrete / brick all the time - just be aware it's only rated for 1 month... We've had it last for years, but different climates produce different...
  17. RIP Computer

Check the rip specs and see what the recommended is, and go above that. Clock speed, ran (fast ram) and a SSD will speed things up above that. If you're ripping off a network to an SSD it isn't going to help much though .. I run a 5950x at home, 64 GB of RAM and it takes me half as long to...
  18. print runs

100 yard rolls! Super heavy, but we were doing tons of wraps and I got left swapping out 50 yard rolls so I bought a few 100 yard rolls. It wasn't worth it.... Mike my back loading and unloading and then loading into the laminator... For putting and cut we keep the cut panels at 15 ft Mac...
  19. Anyone use metamark frosted etched wet apply?

Isn't the b free air release for printed graphics only? I was told it might leave some marks when applying, and the print helps cover it up - I think the document says to use it with prints only or use the regular stuff without. We use mactac frosted... Just did about 40 windows with it, wet...
  20. Coro for fb500

Buy Coro made for printing, it tends to be flatter and prints better... It costs a bit more, but it's worth it when you're not rejecting 50% of the Coro. We buy from laird - they use a brand that's made in canada... Not China. They talked us into the China stuff once and all the corners were...
