  1. Dumb question time : vinyl cutter

Who's got it in canada? Shipping from Canada to us is very easy and cheap, so if you found one here .. buying one shouldn't be an issue if you want to. Plus USD is higher than cad, so it'd probably be cheaper!
  2. Replacing vinyl in a retractable banner stand.

Use banner tape. We cut the banner off right at the edge and tape it to the banner... The original material the banner gets taped to rips very easy, so going banner on-top of banner allows you to do more changeovers.
  3. Need Traffic Signs in Bulk (4000+ Signs)

Seems like a scam post to me. No one in their right mind would order 4000 traffic signs from a sign shop who isn't capable of making traffic Signs. We just supplied a city with a year of traffic signs - it was a $130,000 contract, all in one go... The hoops you have to jump through just to be...
  4. Graphtec FC9000 reviews and experience

I make the blade go out enough that it'd cut through the sticker and paper when I do it by hand, then Adjust the pressure from there.

  7. Graphtec FC9000 reviews and experience

I stopped doing perf cut and just do it as a regular cut awhile ago. It's twice as fast and works as good. You can also do a kiss cut over the perf channel .. I was skeptical at first but I just ran a large job of a thousand stickers kiss cut over the channel then perf cut over the channel...
  8. Smart Film - Anyone ever worked with this nightmare?

I've done a few. A small crinkle and the whole panel is damaged... It doesn't heat out like frosted does. And yes, it's a pain... No dust or anything can get behind it or you're screwed. It's a cool effect, but the stuff is so pricey and it's so unforgiving it's not worth it...
  9. Question Print / Cut directly on reflective

Theoretically you could print white overtop of the blue... HP latex could do it. Looking at it, it does look more like the white is what has a rough edge. It's as if someone paint masked it and then painted it white. It's hard to tell without them in hand. Latex could easily do it, but I...
  10. Question Print / Cut directly on reflective

What makes you think theyre printing on dark color reflective vinyl? it looks to me like the Blue was printed on the white. You can see the edge of the blue is blurry... Or are you talking about the 301 ontop of the red / yellow? In which case it looks like someone just applied a vinyl decal...
  11. shipping Favorite / most Reliable

Usps has added oversize package fees this month... I used to be able to ship 30" decals on a small 4x4x30" box for $10. Now I've had some rates be $30-40 with the new fees. Anything over 22", FedEx/ups is now way cheaper. Any parcel shipped with an impacted service with any side exceeding...
  12. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

Think of it like sunscreen. If you put some on it helps you from being burnt by UV rays... Helps protect you from cancer and other things. Laminate doesn't magically make a print last year's longer. It blocks UV rays until said UV protection wears out. So when it says it can increase the...
  13. Question Weeding vinyl quickly : text

Graphtec has an option to add a weed border and weed lines. It'll only add weed lines if there's nothing in it's way, so it doesn't work for some lines of text... But for the most part it does. We buy 7725 vinyl. It's probably 25% more than other cast vinyls..m but it has a synthetic backer...
  14. Onyx Conserve media not conserving media

Lots of thread necromancy these days.
  15. HP 115 Power Question

So the 115 needs 16 amps. According to the stats on the device, it can do 16 amps continous... so it should be ok. But again - I'm not an Electrician... I dont know how reliable these are! And a big point you may not realize... you cant plug it into any 2 outlets... It has to be plugged...
  16. HP 115 Power Question

You'd need to plug it into 2 outlets that are on different breakers... Depending on your house that could mean 100 ft apart from eachother, or 10. I don't know enough about electrical to say whether that's safe or not. Theoretically it works, but will it burn your house down or be clean...
  17. HP 115 Power Question

You need 2 220v outlets. You can run 1 20 amp 220v to wherever you need, and split it into two outlets... But you need 220 and can't use 120.
  18. Need Help Vinyl Construction Decal Files

You can find the decals easily online for re-printing... However you wont ever be able to get the copyright permission to do so. If your business plan relies on that, I would give up - They have certain suppliers who are allowed to print their decals, and if you try to do it without...
  19. Banner Wholesalers

We do a lot of our banners in house... I'd rather not, but we charge $2-300 for a 4x8, in hopes no one buys them... But they do, and usually in a rush. It's nice when they pay $8k for 30 4x7 banners... But everyone here hates hand heming with tape, huge pain in the ass. So we do them probably...
  20. Banner Wholesalers

Don't worry. After her first order of 20 banners, her hands will be raw and shell hate having a printer and go back to only outsourcing!
