  1. Employee Retention and new applicants

Your boss sounds like a moron taking out a second mortgage to essentially support his employees. Owners start businesses for themselves not support there employees...if he loses his house and goes out of business I’m sure his employees will pick up the tab smh.
  2. Employee Retention and new applicants

Never let an employee dictate your actions. Did you start the business to support them? At the end of the day every person in your building is replaceable, except you. It’s important to be fair, respectful, and objective. But remember it’s not the 80’s, there are plenty of good people that...
  3. Best UV Flatbed out

Have fun screwing in pins (and removing them if higher then the media) to line up media on the Mimaki. We test drove one and colors were super over saturated, missing fine detail. Also, for acceptable work it was 4 boards and hour. We went with an Agfa Anapurna (installed earlier this year)...

  8. Unsatisfactory overspray/text quality printing with HP Latex 370

Random, but if you flip the way the text is printing (ie you were printing across the roll now try flipping it 90 degrees) do you have the same issue? Sounds silly but we have a couple sticker jobs that we need to do this for to print knockout type appropriately.
  9. How does a signmaker take a vacation?

If it’s a large project just give them my phone number while you’re away and I’ll take care of it...jk In all seriousness, it’s about infastructure. You have to ask yourself what role(s) are you performing that others at your shop aren’t capable of? No one will ever love your business like...
  10. Computer Upgrade suggestions

Does not have solid state, so that will def be part of the next machine we purchase without a doubt.
  11. Computer Upgrade suggestions

We currently are running several mid 2011 iMac 3.4 ghz Intel i7 16GB DDR3 AMD Radeon 697 OM @ 1024 mbs. We are starting to experience slow save times, and drops shadows killing us. We are not using these computer for ripping etc, just heavy design work. Using mainly illustrator / indesign /...

  13. Need Help accurate cutting

I can solve your problem, summa’s suck. I have an S2 T160 and it’s the worst purchase I ever made. We almost bought a summa f series at the same time, thank goodness we didn’t as then I’d likely have two POS’s
  14. Roland 640 Printer questions

IMO print cut on and solvent / eco solvent is disaster waiting to happen. If you intend to print/cut with bleed have fun with edge curl and possible adhesive issues. If you intend to lam, do you really want to have to run it back through your printer to cut while it could be printing other...

  17. Question The new Roland Tru vis

I’d put some thought into a latex, since you haven’t yet. You have way more color control on the latex 365, has a built in spectrometer for consistency. Pair that with Onyx and you are good to go. Versaworks is super user friendly, but it’s a very unsophisticated rip. So much so that I run...
  18. Question The new Roland Tru vis

Also, speak to some material suppliers like MacTac. Some materials you need to leave white space on edges with eco solve (no full bleed). With Latex that is not an issue.
  19. Question The new Roland Tru vis

I have a VG640, it’s built beautifully and like a tank....but that’s me trying to say it’s a fat chick with a great personality. Prints are so slow, and print cut sounds great...except print cut with medium - heavy coverage creates crazy edge curl. The plasticity of these inks (which you’ll...
