  1. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

A dictionary collection of descriptions of word usages in vogue at the time of publishing. A dictionary is descriptive not definitive. For those of you educated in public schools, that means a dictionary describes things, it does not define anything. Arguing from a dictionary is...
  2. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

In the words of my old philosophy mentor "Don't be an a$$". Immediately does not mean instantaneously.
  3. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

Not what actually happens. The drying of volatile solvents cannot be compared to the curing of enamels. The former dries via evaporation which happens immediately. The latter cures by chemical processes which can take months if not years. It can be argued that once enamel is fully cured it...
  4. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

Two very different phenomena. One is evaporation the other is a chemical reaction, sort of. Evaporation takes minutes. The reaction between the vinyl and the ink where the vinyl is softened can take a much longer time to settle down. The thing commonly refereed to as 'out gassing' is the...
  5. Discussion Do I have to wait 24hrs so I can laminate?

And what, captain chemistry, would be the difference? The evaporative processes for eco-solvent inks differ from those of solvent inks in what way that would make such a dramatic difference?
  6. My colors are coming out darker than the are suppose to

Are you talking about vector data or bitmaps or gradients or what? Switching from CMYK bitmaps to RGB bitmaps generally will produce brighter prints. Sending CMYK bitmaps usually results in much muddier looking output. What are your rendering intents?
  7. Importing a DXF file into LXI

LXI is Sign Warehouse's re-branded version of Flexi and, as such, importing a DXF file should be as simple as File->Import... I do it all the time but into Flexi, not LXI. If this is not working then perhaps dealing with DXF files is version sensitive. As I recall...
  8. Need Help Where can I get Enduralam 2 parts

'Endura'-anything is usually something sold by Sign Warehouse. Have fun dealing with them.
  9. laminate failure photos?

It's empirical evidence [see Aristotle] as well as rational [see Copernicus] not anecdotal [see Facebook]. Learn the differences. Conspiracy? The great printed vinyl conspiracy? Seek help.
  10. laminate failure photos?

Ah the revealed word from the great white fathers at 3M. That settles it eh? Solvent dries via evaporation in minutes if not seconds. That being the the case, from whence comes the gas that scares people? Now then, once the ink has dried there remains certain structural changes in printed vinyl...
  11. laminate failure photos?

It looks pretty much the same as when you do. Outgassing is a myth the best use of which is to scare small children into going to bed. It's also a handy scapegoat on which to blame a lot of operator error.
  12. Graphtec plotter isn't accurate and not joining

"Hi everyone, Just a quick question, I use my Graphtec FC8000 for cutting around my Motocross templates but when the machine comes to finish its cut the shapes haven't joined the best from when the blade started and finished the cut but only very little. How would I improve this? Simple...
  13. Graphtec plotter isn't accurate and not joining

Any time someone complains of their plotter behaving in this fashion people always seem to respond with 'blade offset issue'. Of all the things that might be causing this plotter's behavior, the blade offset setting is at the bottom of the list. Grasp this simple fact: Once set, the blade offset...
  14. laminate failure photos?

While I have no photos of malfesant laminate, in this area at ~5,000' elevation the failures are legion. A quick drive around town will show many examples. I've had a few myself using Oracal 290 which is supposed to be a premium laminate. After 5-6 +- years a number of jobs laminated with 290...
  15. How small can you get?

Find another way. Cutting vinyl that small once is a stunt, more than once is silliness. Print them on some substrate or another, silkscreen them right onto the wall, write them with your pinkie dipped in mayonnaise, but routinely doing cut vinyl that small? There has to be a better way. Who...
  16. Tape measure or hand?

Ask hit what size hand he has.
  17. Suggestion for my vinyl selection.

'Quite'? It would seem that the various gods of perversity and perhaps irony are ever on duty. Here's how it works kid. When it's your turn to post you get to post whatever it might please you to post. When it's my turn to post I get to post whatever it might please me to post. If it's...
  18. How hot is to HOT

^^^^^^ From personal experience, do this. ^^^^^^^ Just mask the stuff. Unlike vinyl, mask is pretty much unaffected by temperature. On the other hand, vinyl's dimensional stability varies wildly with temperature.
  19. Looking for moderators

No drama; true statement. There is no such thing as a small nor a righteous limitation of expression. It always begins for what might appear to be a good reason but it rapidly grows into disgusting full out censorship. It's been that way in a small way for a few years not. You've been reduced to...
  20. Looking for moderators

Since you hawk your wares here it's no mystery why this might irritate you. It follows as the night unto the day that you are hardly objective and unbiased in these matters. But for others not looking to sell a product it doesn't mean squat. If it bothers the owner and operator of this sand box...
