  1. Do I need to transfer tape?

I would. It would prevent the vinyl from stretching too much, plus it will keep any scratches to a minimum. Anything over a couple of inches and I mask it.
  2. Hello from slower lower Delaware.

Welcome from the eastern shore of MD... I'm not too far from you over close to Denton...
  3. 2 tatt or not 2 tatt??

Exactly. Its not just a service, but a relationship. I have a several (including a full back piece that I just finished over Christmas), and they were all done by the same guy (a guy that my wife has known since they were kids). You really should get along with your artist, and make sure...
  4. Cut how thin lines ?

When you plot it, have the plotter do weed lines (just a line between each line of copy), then just go through, remove all the centers from the letters, and outside the border. Then mask it, flip it over, remove the backing and remove the background. The letters and border should stay on the...
  5. Cut how thin lines ?

:help Its not really how thin a line that you can cut with a plotter, because at some point, is it weedable, and then, will it stay once applied. If your looking for a good plotter, the question that needs to be asked is how dependable it is. Any name brand machine is a good investment.
  6. Our New Logo

And just who would know that? Some font junkie with waaaaayyyyyy too much time on his hands. I agree with everyone else...you need to just start over. Have you read any of the design books, such as Dan A. logo creation books?
  7. You want me to teach you what!!!

Yeah, I had a guy that had a wrecker, and he came in to get it lettered. While finishing up on the last door, he told me he went on Ebay, and got himself one of them "fancy sticker cutters" for his wife to take to the flea market to give her something to do on the weekends...by the way, how do...
  8. Wanting to build a thermoforming machines vacuum forming machines

Exactly. It was a national supplier...no longer in business. The major problem with this is the plastic doesn't form like you think it will. All of the graphics are laid out by hand, and about 5 faces are screened, then formed. The guys in the art department would then look at the way the...
  9. Wanting to build a thermoforming machines vacuum forming machines

I worked at a company that had capiblity to do a large face (I don't remember how large, not that big though). They had a large oven with an overhead rail system that slid the face and frame into it. The plastic would be clamped into a frame, and hung vertically on the rail system. It slid...
  10. People that dont think...

You know, a call to the school should straighten it out...especially if the restaurant called and told the principal that because of the students lack of reguard for private property, they would be held responsible for paying for the damage.
  11. Wanting to build a thermoforming machines vacuum forming machines

I agree. First problem your going to have is to heat the material evenly. Then building the scissor lift mechanism to lift the plastic up to the heat source. It just doesn't make sense to try to build your own. If your looking to make a few faces, you would be better off contacting a face...
  12. Proveer Price Increase

Yeah. I had a holder that just had a couple of tabs that held it in, and all of a sudden, the roll just starts falling out...So I had to head out and buy another holder...Its a conspiacy...:banghead: And on the note of materails going up, I deal mostly with Fellers, and they had a price...
  13. Best christmas present

That is great news Joe. Great way to start the new year off right. :thumb:
  14. I hate some people.....

You really need to check the laws, like everyone said. I'm surprised that noone has mentioned adding something to the sign... In a bright orange, in block letters, just slap a "DEAD BEAT CUSTOMER" decal over the sign... I have thought about doing that to a customer that didn't pay. Of...
  15. Ooooo... that's a neat idea..........................

I was going to get my wife a rign she has asked for, but she has been asking for a remote car starter... And she is getting the shoes she tried on, a couple of shirts, and 10 lbs of caramel creams (for the ultimate practical joke gift)...
  16. Any pranksters here among us?

I like pulling pranks. Worked at a company several years ago (ok 15...), and the guys in the shop would pull pranks on each other. Dumb stuff like glueing lockers shut, taping tool boxes to the beams in the workshop. Once a guy took the fork lift and lifted a guys car up, and they put...
  17. 1k misprinted business cards

I agree with everyone else.... I'd use them as target practice, then burn what was left... My first question would be how did they get printed at 50 dpi.
  18. Reinstalled Corel 12 now can't plot.

I'm not completely sure about making Corel work with a Graphtec, but with mine (x3 going to a Summa), it has to be a macro. If you go to Control J, and under the macro tab, it should be there, and just move it over to the corel desktop. *(forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm going on memory...When I...
  19. Hard Drive Recovery

I had my external HD crash a couple of years ago, and I called the geek squad 800 # and they told me that they could do it for something like $195. I then drove 45 min (each way) to the closest one, and they told me that they would have to send it off, and depending on the amount of data, it...
  20. alumalite

I just did a couple of 3/8" single sided signs (with the core and the alum, it was just shy of 9/16"), and I used J Trim from Lowe's. It's a little longer on the back side, and I used small sheet metal screws plus silicone to hold it on. It gives a nice finished look to the sign.
