The i1 will work fine, however there's a heck of a lot of patches to measure. If you're doing one or two this might now be too big of a deal, but if you are going to do several you ought to get the Caldera Easy color-- it's automated and works for most machines. Sure beats doing the readings...

Well, within reason. What you do is RIP your document, and then get the cut file info from Spooler. Look that up in VisualCut, and then it'll cut it. You'll need to choose "blind" so the machine just cuts-- it won't have any dots to look for.

It depends on the printer. Some machines will not do their own cleaning without media loaded. If you do take it out, make sure your machine will clean without it.

This is not necessarily correct. It was a much bigger deal on the 800/850, but the 3000 isn't as susceptible to temperature, because it is using a completely different way to dry and cure the prints. The heat is much more localized, and the machine is directly measuring the heat of the units...

We went to Spain for the product launch, and were one of the first to get this machine here in the US. I can't say enough good about it. It's not just an upgrade to the LX-800/850 machines, it's a total redesign. Well worth the investment.

Do a real upgrade and invest in Caldera. It's a fantastic product, and will make you much more efficient.
