  1. Goldrush Alaska

Did anyone see the last episode of Sara Palin's Alaska, where they were panning for gold on the north western coast? It seemed like not too much effort to come up with $1000 worth of gold in one day and there were lots of people scattered all over the beach doing the same thing and also diving...
  2. L25500 42" Only a few Left

Yea, thanks Rick, I had my eye on that machine and the next time I walked by it I see "Sold-Typestries"! I missed seeing you around though. So what kind of issue did you have with the super smooth blockout? The only time I ever had an issue with my JV3 Mimaki was with 15 oz. smooth block out...
  3. L25500 42" Only a few Left

I've been looking at these lately, though I've been looking at the 60" version, and I'd sure like to hear the latest reports from anyone that has one. Good printer? Happy with your purchase? Tim....Rick....anyone?
  4. My PM box is 100% full?

You might just have to log off and then log on again to see the correct number there.
  5. New Client Nightmare Job

Jill, I think this is for a shop fascia. I think the little peace signs are what he's referring to as CND logos. I sure would like to know what the size and shape requirement are though because I couldn't even start thinking about this until I had that very clear. I'm assuming it's rectangular...
  6. No Print days

I think that the automatic cleaning cycles absolutely need to be maintained, and that goes without saying. What he is proposing is a daily printing in addition to the automatic cleaning cycles and I think it is a very good idea if the machine will be sitting idle for any length of time. The ink...
  7. New Client Nightmare Job

We are at a disadvantage to help you if you don't give all the specifications up front. What are the size parameters you have to work within? What are the color requirements? What other elements are absolutely required? Are there any font restrictions? Is this a completely new design or...
  8. Fire truck

That doesn't look like SignGold. There is another product that is what the factories use, which is hand leafed gold on vinyl, and that is what it looks like. It can be layered with black vinyl for the outline or it can be thermal printed and then an oversize, plotter cut laminate layered over that.
  9. Changebable dates on banners

For the most part, I do not encourage anyone to consider a changeable date on a banner however, on rare occassion I will do it. Usually I will use a removable adhesive vinyl for the date, whether the rest of the banner is printed or vinyl. If it is printed, just leave a white blank area to place...
  10. No Print days

I think it's a good idea. Here's an image of the test print I run occassionally.
  11. omega 2.6 Layout found on ebay

Fred....you....you of all people are agreeing and mocking Omega with laughter?! Actually I think it simply depends on what you are experienced with and have practiced as to which one is "easier". I started with Omega so I happen to think that it has great capabilities and many things are...
  12. CS5 Purchase

Just so you know too about that educational license version, they actually require very positive proof that you are qualified. You need to send a school transcript and/or other proof, so it's not a matter of just checking a box saying you qualify and then you get the educational discount...
  13. CS5 Purchase

You might be right about the math Doug. Well, if you are interested in purchasing direct from Adobe for a 15% discount today, then I think your best course of action would be to contact Adobe immediately and have them send the link directly to you. As I understand, you can only get the discount...
  14. CS5 Purchase

Well, I'll tell you one thing, Adobe has a pro-rated upgrade policy and if you wait too long between upgrades, then you put yourself out of range for upgrades and your only solution is to purchase a whole new version. I've been using AdobeCS and never upgraded to CS 2, 3, 4, or 5 and now I'm not...
  15. How do I bevel text in Illustrator? Please help...

You can create vector beveled text like your first example in Gerber Omega. If you want, you can send me the text you need and I can vector bevel it for you, if you can't do it yourself. Here's a picture of the result and each facet of the bevel is an individual vector.
  16. Sign World 2010 - The Blog

What a weekend! OK, so this was one of the smallest shows in years but did that make it a poor show? Actually, things are only what you make of them and on the show floor, I was able to be more focused with particular vendors and therefore got a lot of valuable information and potentially good...
  17. Sign World 2010 - The Blog

Gary, great blog, hope I run into you while we're here. Joe, nice avatar...is that the new file you are working on to be carved by the Multicam today?
  18. USSC Sign World 2010

Now that's the best idea you had all year!
  19. Accepting Credit Card Payments

If you are looking for a credit card processor, I think it would be worth your while to get a free quote from this company as I found them to be very competative and willing to offer a very good deal to Signs101 members, however these things change all the time so a quick call for a current...
  20. Wayfinding ADA Examples

Rick, I haven't seen the book list and I searched but did not come across it. Could you post a link to the thread that contained it?
