  1. Roland spot colors and how they work

Good thoughts- I did more google work and found this: Although media profiles are ignored, VersaWorks uses calibration and ink limit information from the media profile, so it’s still important to select the correct profile. Choosing an incorrect media profile in VersaWorks may result in the...
  2. Roland spot colors and how they work

I use Vworks and I am pretty much happy with it. I have a RF and profiles are pretty scanty and very slow for this machine. We print almost exclusively Roland Spot colors and print only what we design. My spot colors are over saturated and dry slowly... my understanding is they are not...
  3. Work Order / Job Flow Software or Process, what do you do?

Didn't I read that you have a new update coming out? The release date on your website is 2012. I would like to trial the new version. Gene
  4. media wall rack, suggestions?

Here is the cheep mans version.
  5. 2015 Poll on sign estimating/production software

Interesting that this thread resurfaced. I wonder what happened to the Honos software person? Did anyone ever try his free trial? Gene
  6. Cleaning RF640 and VS 540 + 640 print heads and wipers

I have been running my RF pretty hard for a month (probably a dozen rolls of media) and it was still printing fine but I thought maybe I should do a cleaning on it. The wiper and wiper carriage were really gucked up... with stalactites of dried ink hanging from the carriage. The scraper was...
  7. Roland VersaCAMM Vsi 54" VERSUS Mimaki CJV150-130 PRINTER/CUTTER

My advice is do not pay a cent for the machine until it is in your shop, set up, and you have run it for 12 weeks, and all features are working 100% as advertised. You could put the cash in a holding account, to be released upon satisfactory performance. Once you pay, good luck, from my...
  8. Top Trade Shows for 3D

This looks like a very industrial show? What aspect of 3D are you interested in... printing (additive), scanning, machining...? I am interested as well but kind of a rube on most of it. Gene
  9. Roland Take Up Tube ?

What are you using for a take up? OEM or aftermarket? Perhaps which printer would be helpful also. I build my own TU so that I can slip the tube off without the motions that seem to be required for the Roland TU. Also I like them up off the floor as I am old and infirm. When I tape the media...
  10. Where to start?

A Shopbot Buddy (BT-32) is 24x32 and was my first machine. I think it was about 6k used and was a real education for me before I moved up. They also come as a 24x48 (BT-48) which can be fairly easily upgraded to a 48x48 which is a very useful size. Again the support system is extraordinary...
  11. Eyepiece for Edge?

I dropped one 15 years ago and it seems like it was about $50 then... but I am getting kinda senile. Lotta beer under the bridge since then. :rock-n-roll:
  12. Roland RF640 Unite

Last week was our first week using the new printer full time. This is our 3rd Roland and if this is similar to the last two we clean every 2-4 weeks depending on the season (we have seasons here ) or when print quality falls off. Gene
  13. Ultimaker 2.0

Here is a review: http://3d-printers.toptenreviews.com/ultimaker-review.html I am thinking of a first 3d printer but kinda favoring SLA like the Nobel 1 which is supposed to come out 3rd qtr I think. http://us.xyzprinting.com/
  14. Roland RF640 Unite

We are just swapping a new RF into our workflow. I don't believe there are many in the States and most dealers don't know a lot about them. I have a thread already going with what I know about it. Seems to print nice and the speed is coming along (about 20% faster than our VP540 at this point)...
  15. Setup on wideformat Rolands without movable grit rollers?

The margins adjust both sides at the same time and nowhere near 3". There is an offset in VWorks but it does not move the registration marks- same with manually adjusting the job in the layout in VW. Thanks but I have tried this stuff... there is something eluding me I think. Gene
  16. Setup on wideformat Rolands without movable grit rollers?

My VP has movable rollers so I could set where the registration marks printed (for the GX500 on 54" media it has to be 3" over on the left). The new RF doesn't have movable rollers... is there a way aside from setting the base point for each print to do this? Thanks Gene
  17. 3M black metalic is not opaque?

Thanks- I will try to get a sample of that. Gene
  18. Versaworks tips, tricks, mods and inside info?

I also have an older iOne spectro that I profiled my current VP540 with 5+ years ago. I was 64 then and the years have worn me down but I should take another look at that... and possibly Castek's coaching services. I have a new younger partner who will be dealing with this long after I am gone...
  19. 3M black metalic is not opaque?

Sorry- I thought I had put 1080 in the title. I don't have a sample of black brushed but black gloss is much better.
  20. Versaworks tips, tricks, mods and inside info?

So... is there any online info on how to tweek VW profiles to make them work better for you? I have a good profile for my RF-640 (printing on 54") that looks great but does not print as fast as my VP. This machine is cmykkymc and my understanding is it should be faster. Thanks Gene
