  2. iFactory the very first look at the Apple factory

There's a documentary out there called Mardi Gras:Made In China that took an indepth look into one of the factories making Mardi Gras beads. Supposedly it's a pretty accurate portrayal of most Chinese factories outside of Foxcon. The conditions and treatment are horrible. It's easy to see...
  3. iFactory the very first look at the Apple factory

Your problem with that thinking is China is a communist country. Chinese manufacturing is based on one thing: a large, available workforce of small nimble fingers. Look at pictures of Chinese tech factories....see any 40 year old people working there? Nope. They hire young people, work them...
  4. iFactory the very first look at the Apple factory

Labor cost is a minimal part of the final cost. Here are figures from the article VecDoc posted about labor costs for assembling iMac computers.... That's only $16 per computer, right at 1%. I'm not saying that Apple should even take the hit, let them pass it on. If the cost of everything...

You want to really be upset? I'll dig for it when I get to the shop but a couple of months ago I ran across an article that showed that making iphones in the USA would only raise the RETAIL price $6.....less than a 1% price increase and they could have employed THOUSANDS of American workers.
  7. Partial wrap chevy Volt, No idea where to price it at.

Is the government subsidizing the wrap?
  8. For all you poker fans.

Now Darlak, you know your government's responsibility is to protect you from yourself. That's what freedom is all about.
  9. Showcard / Tuff White

By the way, nothing has the feel of real crescent showcard with the clay coating. Sad to think that it used to be available everywhere and now it looks like you're going to have to dig for it.
  10. For all you poker fans.

We should get an online tournament together sometime.
  11. Gold Rush...don't hate me.

Yep. The Alaska scenery you see on the show is just green screen shots of stuff they scanned out of some old National Geographics.
  12. Gold Rush...don't hate me.

Heck, don't the still owe the Hoffman sister $25,000 that she loaned them? So....$49,500 - 20% = $39,600 - $25,000 = $14,600. $14,600 divided by six guys = $2,433.33 each or 23¢ an hour. Hell, even Mosh pays more than that. No guts, no glooorrrryyyyyy!
  13. Gold Rush...don't hate me.

I know, we've beaten the dang dead horse into the ground about the show not being real and it all being set up and it's actually being filmed on a sound stage in Albuquerque. I recorded it and scanned through it in about 10 minutes tonight just to see if my hopes that the Parker kid finds a 12...

Look for railroad board if you need more options but we had to start using Crescent #82 Illustration board back when we were printing showcards. Don't remember where we were getting it but google turned up this. http://www.aoeartworld.com/82-crescent-display-blanks-28x44.aspx
  15. Father of Digital Art Laurance Gartel

The guy forgot he had this project due. It's obvious he whipped into Walmart, grabbed some Sharpies and a couple of 98¢ cans of spray paint and "created" this work of art in the car while stopped at traffic lights on the way to deliver it. But...there's a market for some bizarre "artwork" out...
  16. Stock photos: difference between these 2 images?

Yes it should. And as the backdrop for a play the viewing distance will make it look fine.
  17. Tablets. Have One? Don't? What do you do on it?

Got a 7" and a 10" g-tablet. Things are awesome! Angry birds is so much better on a bigger screen.
