  1. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

The problem with connecting USB is you need a USB device driver for your version of Windows. So once again I am only guessing, but if they no longer make the cable they may not be further developing drivers. Look for the driver first, and then spend on the cabling. Or your previous...
  2. Mimaki CJV30-130 cutting off by 2mm

I'm guessing it's a calibration issue (the precise distance, X and Y, between the blade and the laser scanning gizmo, aka sensor :^) I'm not sure how the routine works with a Mimaki to calibrate the sensor, but Mimaki, your dealer or your manual should be able to advise how to do it. Just...
  3. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

The thing to remember is that it's Gerber in name only. The communications and serial cable configuration is undoubtedly Mutoh, as are the Gerber cutters that we made when I was with Summa. Summa has a unique pin-out and makes cutters in Belgium a few kilometers from Mutoh's cutter division...
  4. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

I think I'd pass on Radio Shack and buy a cable from a Mutoh cutter dealer. Whatever Mutoh's pin out is, it's real unlikely they've changed it or that Gerber would have had it changed when OEM'ing the cutter. Doing so would be a costly mainboard modification that would also reduce Mutoh's...
  5. Vinyl Express GRC-61

Try www.gccworld.com. They should have up-to-date drivers. We no longer partner with GCC on the GRC61. So no drivers is, in our opinion, better than out-dated drivers. Thus we need to send you to the source. That'll insure you get the best and most up-to-date solution. Hope that helps...
  6. Plotter Recommendation

Qe is very CE Series-like; Q is very FC Series-like. We private label the cutters, but are not supposed to say who makes them. The beauty is that our top-of-the-line Q Series cutter, which looks, runs and smells exactly like a Graphtec FC Series Cutting Pro, is available at very near a...
  7. Plotter Recommendation

They're both the best, in varying regards. BTW, I was with Summa (named the company) for 13 years, as its marketing director, marketing vp and then vp. The company was AirMark originally and sold Graphtec (their best) Summagraphics (second best) and Roland (their value model, in the day). It...
  8. Project Tracker App?? Anyone??

I use Microsoft Project. But cheaper alternatives may be online. Try googling "project management software service free" :^)
  9. Plotter Recommendation

LOL. Sorry!!!!! But if it'll make you feel any better, it's still very much like looking at a Graphtec. Others can explain, but I'm subject to a gag order. Also our Qe series may look very-much like the CE. But Q is the bomb (with CE-like pricing, sort of) and the stuff of many, many years...
  10. Plotter Recommendation

Better still: a Graphtec-based cutter at a great price, even less than a Roland, which is not quite up to Graphtec's level, IMO. http://www.signwarehouse.com/cutters/ve/Q_series.html
  11. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

I really don't know. If you can connect parallel, you're golden; all parallels are the same. If the serial adapter converts a standard serial cable to Mutoh/Gerber's pin-out, then that should get you there, too, I'd think. The rub with serial (why USB has displaced it) is that whether it's...
  12. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

Not all serial cables are alike. Cutter makers often have custom pin-outs. Check with Mutoh or Gerber on whether you have the correct serial cable.
  13. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

If the serial connection doesn't work, here's the USB driver install at mutoh.be, for the Ultima, which I think is the Gerber embosstrack: http://www.mutoh.be/large-format-printers-cutting-plotters/search-results/page.aspx/1344?sRequest=Ftdiunin.exe For com port state, this is pretty typical...
  14. Another Company besides Fellers ?

    What? Me biased?!?
  15. legacy plotter embosstrack 48

I'd go with HPGL and Com 1, but make sure the port-state it set correctly and that the cutter is in HPGL mode, too. I think that'll get you home, fingers crossed. Good luck. It's actually a pretty nice cutter.
  16. Another Company besides Fellers ?

    I like these guys: www.signwarehouse.com :^)

  19. Epson GS600 vs. other printers

This is pretty astonishing, if you don't mind my saying. Unless you're buying a printer to do other tasks, i.e. T-shirts, I do not understand. Having a proven winner, in production environment, is exactly what I'd want to expand on if wanting a reliable addition to my production capability...
  20. Graphtec FC8000 Will not completely cut letters, etc.

Sounds like a blade offset problem. But you can check with our support folks, if you're a SignWarehouse client (800.699.1783; support@signwarehouse.com) If you bought your Graphtec elsewhere, we have helpful info at www.signwarehouse.com/support/ Best Regards,
