You my not have got the bargain you think you got. I've seen deals like that full of vinyl so old that it is brittle. It is hard to apply too. Don't use old stuff if you want to stay in business for very long.

If I was in your position, I would farm out the vinyl cutting and printing and do the design work for a while. It would give you some time to explore your market. You would then have a better idea of what equipment you would need the most.
I have used a poster paper and a photo paper that was made for eco-solvent ink. They both work real well. I got them from SSK (now closed)and I don't remember the details. You should be able to find them in any signs catalog under printer materials. Wish I could be of more help.
