  1. Epson Stylus Pro GS6000

Greg Reid, Reid Signs in Seattle, just got one and is real happy with it. You might want to contact him; his info is on www.reidsigns.com. Best, Jim
  2. change setting option during cutting - d60

Menu/Offline ... it'll pause cutting so you can adjust settings mid-job. Call Summa support to confirm, but I seem to recall that's how it's done. Good luck, Jim
  3. Phone templates

Ooh, that's a tough one. You might have to get out a ruler and create your own; otherwise you'd need the original design drawings which are often in high-end industial design programs. I don't know of any phone templates, akin to vehicle templates like Car'nTruck/PVO. Maybe someone does...
  4. summa plotter d-series with non usb connection?

Oops, you're in Europe. Go to www.summa.be or contact the Gistel, Belgium division. Also, there are many dealers thoughtout Europe that can sell you a Summa serial cable. Or if a cable maker is in your town, Summa can tell them the correct pin-out. Best, Jim
  5. summa plotter d-series with non usb connection?

Summa has a custom pin-out. You should order a serial cable from them at www.summastore.com. Cutter Control will work once the cutter is properly connected and initialized (vinyl ... even just a scrap ... and rollers-down). Essentially, Cutter Control reads and communicates back the...
  6. Phone templates

Where are you using the graphics? A vendor/retail sign showing brand name products, oor in a logo / design that should be brand-amorphous?
  7. New to the signs 1o1

Another heyhowdy from the Lone Star State!
  8. New from Conroe, TX

    Howdy back, from Gainesville!!!
  9. LG Chem

Are you bringing it to the right temperature? A surface-temp reader is really a must for stretching and shrinking, if you're not already using one. Best, Jim
  10. $3.000 joke!

Wasatch is outstanding. In a past life I had occasion to witness an extensive RIP comparison. When it came to print-quality, Wasatch trumped them all. Flexi's RIP in particular was pretty marginal ... the magenta-gain and poor halftones were really apparent when reviewed side-by-side with...
  11. $3.000 joke!

I think I'd agree. More and more, CAS software is a bridge program. I see their value in machine-controls, such as cutters and routers. But for designing, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Photoshop, they're all amazingly powerful tools ... and handy to have around when adding staff. Folks down at the...
  12. Need a new laptop.. suggestions?

AspireOne, from Acer ... under $300 at Walmart, and it comes with XP! (I hate Vista) Just get an externa DVD writer and you're good to go. Best, Jim
  13. Still hungover, can't think straight, HELP

2 asprin; 4 oz. Jack Daniels; nap.
  14. Bridge/Cutters

The better software and cutting (bridge) programs sort the vectors. Without vector sorting, the objects are ordered in the same order as they were created, so the cutting-head/drive drum will do a lot more moving around than is needed. But that's not a huge issue on cutters that tracks as well...
  15. Bridge/Cutters

Hi Biker Scout, I'd agree with everything, with exception of tangential-cutting, which I spent the over a decade believing superior to drag-cutting. But a after a year of working closely with Graphtec / Graphtec OEM cutters, I had to change my opinion on that. Graphtec cutters, head-up...
  16. Bridge/Cutters

If it's cutting you'll do mostly, it's probably fine for most jobs. But if your primary need is contour-cutting, you really need to consider one of the cutters that has worked the bugs out, like Summa or Graphtec. Putting scanner on the cutting head is child's play; getting the firmware kinks...
  17. Question for Photoshop whiz...

Yep; corrupt/non standard Postscript file ... or PS derived file, such as AI, PDF, etc. Photoshop has one the best PS interpreters anywhere, and is often my program of last resort when PS files won't open in other programs. If it's a no-go in Photoshop, it probably won't open anywhere.
  18. SP300 double-cutting??

Are you certain (view wireframe) that the lines are strokes and not really fine vectors? I'm sure you have, as you stated. But that would seem the culprit. If not, software and firmware updates/reloads is probably the only other fix ... that would at least return the printer to default...
  19. Que onda raza!!! Nuevo Desde Los Mochis, Sinaloa Mexico!

Hi Sign-Man, Were you urging Miguel or Philip to post in English? Hi Gang, My read was that Sign-Man was scolding Philip not berating Miguel. Maybe I'm wrong. No matter. Hi Miguel, Where is Los Mochis? Man, I think we should all come down and visit, drink some beer, have...
  20. Summa DC4sx Media

:toasting: Great advice. Scoring is the way to go, or so I seem to recall when I was with Summa. One other caveat is having lots of blades; mag can eat them alive. Is that your experience also? Best,
