Texas_Signmaker ... The fuel is hydrogen, NOT fossil fuel.
  2. Bezos Flight

Texas_Signmaker.... less than what is emitted on I-80 in an average 5 minutes... (possibly MUCH less, like seconds, simple math, but I used some huge WAGs, but very confident the spaceflight was a blip as far as planetary emissions go.)
  3. Bezos Flight

absolutely.... look at Musk, 15 years from now when StarLink is fully operational and everyone on the planet has access to electronic communications and see how we value his contributions (maybe much sooner). I am not going to say for sure, but I hope I can live long enough to see for sure...
  4. Bezos Flight

Ready... yes, read the fine print and you can show that every single taxpaying American could show some financial support to the early railroads. I DO read history. I was not looking to nit-pick all the minutia. However, the railroads and other infrastructure such as banking...
  5. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

Exactly!... just decrease the screen size tenfold or so - enough so it looks like a grey and not dots... if you have an fm screening option that would look better still. If you can force your lpi, go for at least 133, but >150 would be best for a smooth background.
  6. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

the example of scanning a wrinkled sheet will give a very similar effect - the wrinkles are darker than the lightly screened background (filters can give different looks) - just demonstrating that the look of a 3-color with one being a light grey can be created using only 2 colors, as long as...
  7. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

what about black for the type and skull... then find a hue that can be screened back for the background but printed solid for the background detail? (crumple a piece of paper, make it flat again, scan it, then print on a black toner laser printer - you will see a similar look created with one...
  8. Bezos Flight

@ Notarealsignguy... I was referring to this statement: "Uber rich used to give back to society, the arts, libraries, medical research etc. Now this vain crap competing with his equally despicable wealthy oligarchs." I was merely pointing out that what we see through the rose colored glassed...
  9. Question Discoloring

well, I would chance to guess that when the alcohol evaporated there was some wax or grease still dissolved in it... for me the pattern looks almost like a cloth wipe on the surface before install.... you can see the "wax on" swipes of a rag making the edge of the discoloration area (again...
  10. Bezos Flight

@ Notarealsignhuy: Name one great from the past who helped build infrastructure AND who did not use any resources from the public (this would include public education used to build personal knowledgebase right?), AND lastly who had zero intent of personal gain. Rockafellers? no, Smiths? No...
  11. Bezos Flight

... spending this kind of personal money on personal projects... building a personal space program... is EXACTLY how the uber rich used to give back to society as well... ever hear of a major rail line being installed by the US government? (yes there are a few tiny examples....) but the all...
  12. Question Discoloring

are you looking at the blotch on the lower left of the yellow? if so, it is not just the yellow, the line continues through the blue too... looks like some kind of contamination, either working through from something on the surface, or something that was spilled and wiped on the outside...
  13. Weeding HTV??

in my experience all HTV from different brands behaves slightly different on the plotter... you have to adjust and do a test every time you change the media. (okay, most times just a test to verify you set it correctly, but the first time you forget the test will be the first time it is...
  14. Weeding HTV??

the HTV tends to be slightly thicker of a media, making it much easier to weed. Also the tack is very low, so a slip when weeding doesn't necessarily kill the image.... If you can cut and place "everyday adhesive vinyl" then you should have no problem plotting HTV.
  15. Huge Mistake, vinyl on paint

now that is an interesting squirrel chase! IPA 2/1 is basically 70% isopropyl alcohol... 2/1 = 66.66%/33.33% (as opposed to the 70% written as 70%/30%)... HOWEVER, you cannot distill the alcohol pure - hence the archaic way of metering,... If you take 70% of 'pure distilled' IPA and dilute...
  16. For Owners/Managers

We have a daily huddle of all Print Shop staff (8 total, so not too bad)- this is triggered when the drivers are loaded for the day. We meet, quickly discuss what is on the production schedule for the day, positive feedback from customers (initial kudos only, if a long debrief is needed we will...
  17. Graphtec FC-8600-130 contour cutting issues

Was OP able to resolve the problem with the Graphtec? I am curious what the solution was.
  18. If Biden is elected

Just a quick re-read of this thread.... now that we are 7 month on, did anyone notice that the world stopped spinning? ? ? ... Me neither. Just put my head down and do my work in my corner of the world. I think it benefits the top of both parties to keep the little guys fighting over...
  19. Media for stencilled decal

for our own parking lot I had good luck simply plotting through the backer on some Sizer Easy Weed we had sitting around... jut set the blade to all but go through the backer - very close, but not into the cut strip. For stall numbers as well as a few "Print Shop Only" this worked very well...
  20. can you explain "Spot Colors"?

At least for offset printing I would never give a process color when a client requested a spot. I would offer to build the spot, and ask why the spot is needed and not a process color. However, in my slice of the world if a client knows the difference, generally there is a reason. Years ago...
