Sign products don't even rate a mention....it's a shame. Gerber basically invented CAD sign programs & machines and then through a combination of bad decisions and poor performance fell way behind. Their plotters and the Edge are some of the best machines made for what they do and their design...

We have them all...what works on one project doesn't work on the next. Favs are Max Pro Remover, Rapid Remover and alcohol. We had a job last week that all the residue cleaned up nice with
MaxPro but nothing touched one area, finally had to use lacquer thinner.
Yep, choke & spread, but it can take some experimenting to find the best settings. Also sometimes I have issues when doing more than a few colors in one print.
We buy masking tape from an auto paint store which doesn't leave any residue. We use blue or green for installing in interior walls or any surface we are concerned about.
On really old vinyl I've used a hairdryer, and start from a distance. But it's mostly done with a razor and windex as a lubricant. Of course confirm it's glass, razors can mar polycarbonate.
Extruded means the aluminum squeezed through a "mold" to create the profile. The way we used to make most boxes was by bending .040 sheets on the brake in our shop.
Now they're mostly done with purchased extrusions that get cut to size and joined at the corners
If your area requires permit with engineering stamp you should ask the engineer. If no permits required I always overbuild I'd use at least 6"x6" with 2x4 stringers but would probably switch to steel posts with angle iron top and bottom. Here I'd be a minimum of 3 foot down in concrete. Cables...
