  1. Letterhead Fonts - anyone else having trouble ordering from this merchant?

Why do you find that unfortunate?
  2. Letterhead Fonts - anyone else having trouble ordering from this merchant?

Nonsense. I just bought two more LHF fonts in the last couple of weeks and there they are, right there in my system fonts folder where they belong. No mysterious programs, no secret processes, no clumsy schemes. Just a couple more open type fonts in the directory. Just like all the others.
  3. Fc7000-130

Why not just network the plotter or, failing that, save the cut job on the machine where it was created and import it on the machine that drives the plotter? Just because a job is created on one machine doesn't mean you can't move it and run it on another.
  4. Fc7000-130

Simple, assuming you're using Flexi Pro. Which you'd have to be if you're printing with it. Create the contour in Flexi using either the Effects->Contour or Arrange->Contour menus. The former creates the contour path for you, the latter creates a contour from a path you have created. Either...
  5. Corel Draw x3 symbol help

Symbols are just specialty font files. Any character code greater that 126 is not directly available and must be accessed either as ALTnnn or from Corel's Insert Character dialog.
  6. Question of the day- losing minimized files

Why don't you use the 'Window' menu? All of the files you have open should be listed there. Far easier than wrangling minimized icons on an MDO window.
  7. Why is corel the underdog?!

It seems that there's far more Adobe snobs than Corel snobs. The reaction of this specimen to your choice of software aptly demonstrates that it was an amateur. A competent hand might have a preference, probably due to familiarity, but should be able to do a journeyman job with most anything. An...
  8. LHF - The $1000 font (Take a look, good read)

Nonsense. Insurance fraud, pilfering, etc. incur tangible out of pocket loss. Purloining a collection of 1's and 0's does not. You can piss and moan about lost potential business, but that's all that it ever was, potential business. Vaguely potential business at that. It's not real, no matter...
  9. PhotoPaint filters

The AlienSkin SnapArt is exactly what I'm looking for. Not only does it produce the desire effect, it manages to complete the task in my lifetime. Thanks...
  10. PhotoPaint filters

True to a point but the Filter Forge efforts are the results of amateurs working at full capacity. I have no doubt that someone who actually knew what they were about and was capable of writing commercial grade code could improve the miserable performance some orders of magnitude. At any rate...
  11. PhotoPaint filters

Does there exist somewhere a filter/technique/whatever compatible with Corel PhotoPaint that does a fine art transformation. Something like the Oil Paint filter from Filter Forge, only one works at something more than glacial speed? The Filter Forge item produces perfectly acceptable results...
  12. "Combine" Function in Corelx3

Many times when combining a complex object, that would be one with more than one discrete path, like, say, the letter 'O', an inside path is going in the wrong direction. This combines just fine but it won't show the hole in the fill. And then sometimes it doesn't depending on some principle...
  13. Fade in photo?

Put a black rectangle behind the photo and then use the interactive transparency tool to fade the photo into the black rectangle. You can do this in either Corel Draw or PhotoPaint.
  14. Myths, Magic Bullets and Easy Buttons

A popular belief usually but not necessarily true. There are many examples of proving a negative. They often tend to esoterica but they are valid nonetheless, and thus show that it's not an impossibility. It has to do with the inherent deductive nature of proof as opposed to the infinitely...
  15. Determining ink usage?

Costing ink for most jobs is silly, it should be an expensed item. Unless you're printing a tarp to cover the local football field. It's not the cost, it's the ability to know if you have sufficient ink to print some particular job or another. Getting a good estimate of ink remaining in a...
  16. dull colors

I have full Pantone charts printed printed on the various media I use. Both for printing directly out of Flexi and printing via PDF out of Corel. There's a bit of color shift going to PDF. When I need a specific color, I consult the proper printed chart and pay little heed to what appears on my...
  17. dull colors

Bitmaps don't fare well with no color correction. Vector and other like objects do just fine. It depends on what you're printing. Counter-intuitive as it might sound, you absolutely positively don't want to be doing anything in CMYK. You want everything in RGB and let the RIP do the...
  18. dull colors

Set your rendering intents to 'Perceptual' for bitmaps and to 'None' or 'Spot' for everything else. See if that doesn't liven things up for you.
  19. Stupid flexi question...

Simple enough. Convert the object in question to curves, if it isn't already. Then... Activate the 'Select Point' tool. Marquee select all of the nodes on the object. Activate the 'Round Corner' tool. A shitload of little circles will appear on the object. Set the desired radius in the...
  20. Do you know where I can find this

Since you already have the image, what's keeping you from creating it in whatever form you need? It's a reasonably simple image, you should be able to whomp up whatever you need from what you already have.
