I have another technique that hasnt been mentioned. Using a #11 exacto to weed, making cuts halfway up the letters (lenghtwise) and weed the top half and bottom half seperately.
No matter what you decide on doing .. Weeding small text is a PIA. Although half inch is not that small.
I dont know how bad it could be for the printer. I havent had any issues ... But i am verry carefull with not allowing any air to go into the refill (using a syringe of course).
You get about 20ml out of an empty cartridge. So just count it up as you fill back the cartridge.
Thats what i do. Just before i converted to Max Inks i went a month using refilled ecosol cartridges. I saved almost a grand in ink for two hours work!
I also use the refilled cartridges as a safety net if i ever (and i have) run out of ink on a weekend and need to get the job out.

I finally retired my last win98 pc last winter. Main reason is i had a hard time updating anything on the pc ... Not much support for it anymore.

For banners that will be used at different locations on and off i coat them with Clearshield with a roller (Like Sue does). Really toughens up the banner.
I havent looked at the spec differences between the new processors this week (they change all the time!) but a couple of years ago AMD had better performance over Intel along with much better power consuption. Now things have switched and Intel has the better product.

Im no tech but i think your machine's ink suction settings are probably not set for what the max inks require. Its something that is set in the service menu and i dont know if you can have different settings for each color. Are you using different inks at the same time? If so then your profiles...
