  2. Looking at setting up in business, advise needed please. (Apple mac user)

First thing get a PC, lot more sign software for PC. Little more to it than just getting a plotter! I would go see if you could get a part time job at a local sign shop and learn the trade. Having only a plotter is going to put you about 10 years behind most sign shop. Most of us print/cut or...

Down and right. In the last year or two I have been mixing it up and going other ways, but 90% down and right.

  7. Spray painted vinyl

Why not just print and cut and not worry about it? Proven method vs trying somthing that might fail! Come on, be a professional! You could just paint the whole thing and give that a go....or wait..what?

I have been thinking about just closing up for awhile and building a new house. I have a great place on one of my farms.
  9. Spray painted vinyl

I remember meeting Superfrog back in '91, he was touting the great effects of Krylon on vinyl. After I saw him I thought I was going to set the world on fire with fade effects...well until I got a printer! Glad I got my prints now cause weeding after painting SUCKS!!! 11. Alone in the shop!

I am planning on setting up a retail shirt store. Going into the warehouse I have over 2,000 blank shirts in house. I am thinking a blank shirt sale, like $4 a shirt and $8 sweats.
  12. hand painted banner

I forgot about that stuff. We used to do window splashes with it. That might be the ticket!
  13. Alone in the shop!

Well for the first time in years I am a one person shop. I while back we lost two big accounts because they simply are doing them in-house. Then we lost a big screenprinting contract to a big printer in Kansas City. Well now my last helper has just moved out of town on me. I kinda like it...
  14. Another What Would You Do moment....

This happens to me all the time. Shop policy is that on realty signs we do not re-letter the blank. We don't even want the old frame in the shop. We will just print you a new insert. We have had so many signs people "found" at the two hand night store on the five finger discount.

Hey, all you from Florida...JUST SHUT UP about how nice it is there!!! LOL. At least there are no alligators or big snakes that will eat us here in Nebraska.

  18. Lights for a sign cabinet

Not an odd size, I have a box sitting here in our shop. We stock 2'-3'-4'-5'-6'-8' lamps, and always have several ballasts sizes and sockets (both normal and tombstone) To be in the sign biz you have to have some sign stuff in stock.
  19. How cold is it?

It was 50 here yesterday and today the high is only 10. Think it might be time to head down to the Ozarks for a couple of weeks...I guess it isn't that much better there.
  20. would this be good printer for wraps?

Laminator, software, CLEAN place to do installs, someone who knows how to install said wraps...takes more than a printer to do wraps, so I say RUN, RUN like the wind.
