  1. PCBs for signmakers

On the more nefarious side of things, I think of polychlorinated biphenyls and how it relates to disposing of said materials from ballasts used in old signage. On the productive side of things, I think of printed circuit boards like those used in digital displays. Using well-known initials or...
  2. I have question

#6 is also in the same category. They are very hard and very dense which makes for extremely good results. This last photo here may raise a few eyebrows, but Mexican beach pebbles are just about as hard as they get. This engraving demonstrates how tightly the laminar flow of the blast air...
  3. I have question

Our local independent auto parts supplier still has a pin-fed printer as well. One major benefit I can see is that the store's copy always remains attached to the web...in perfect sequence. This fact alone must make the audit / verification process a gazillion times easier than chasing a...
  4. I have question

Thanks. I used to be a tool and die maker, and then did a short stint teaching manufacturing and CAD design. I discovered sandblasting / stonework nineteen years ago and was so intoxicated by the possibilities that I jumped in with both feet. I'll give you a small hint...most of what you...
  5. I have question

A few more why the hells. Again, all of them were sandblasted using sign vinyl stencil. JB
  6. I have question

A few more. Sandblasting is 99.9% of all we do. JB
  7. I have question

Here are some photos of my "Why the hell"... GS15 Plus Gerber plotter + sign vinyl + sand = my superpower. Elderly technology still pays the bills. JB
  8. I have question

The longevity of the Gerber is the primary reason. Mine are now old enough to run for president, and I'm seriously weighing my options for a write-in candidate. There's still a lot of them out there, especially in monument shops. JB
  9. Church Logo

It's been a horrendously long downward spiral since a simple cross was once sufficient...in more ways than one. JB
  10. Need Help I AM IN WAY OVER MY HEAD

Tool and die guy here... Speeds and feeds are dependent upon four main things: 1) The material you're cutting 2) The tool diameter 3) Number of cutting flutes 4) And the tool material (HSS, CBN, Carbide, High Carbon Steel, etc...). You can find that data in a copy of Machinery's Handbook, or...
  11. Lowcost software for vinyl cutter?

Whoa, that video took us way back to the 90s. Your 3 best options are: 1) Go Fu** Me. 2) Electro Pounce for use with your Illy prints. 3) Apprentice under a sign maker for 4 years and save your $ along the way. JB
  12. Does illustrator "bloat" pdf's?

They're not necessarily bloated. Users of Illy have the option as how to save .pdf files (quality). Sounds like they chose highest quality. It could also be that they set up their file with multiple artboards, hence the numerous pages in one .pdf.
  13. Screenshot: What software is this?

    Not unless it's a version that pre-dates v7. JB
  14. Screenshot: What software is this?

Ok, no more dissing the client's work. I agree, it needs major help, so rest assured there'll be changes. But beyond that, I think some of y'all need to visit the freezer section of your local grocery store and do a spell check. The correct name of the seafood company is actually Gorton.
  15. Screenshot: What software is this?

Just received this from a client.... Does anyone know what software was used to produce this? I'm thinking Cricut or something similar. Thank you, JB
  16. Bronze plaque tarnishing

This is absolutely uncalled for. Hop in your car and look for other bronze installed in your area. Bronze has more of a golden hue...not yellow. I have a sneaky hunch the others aren't having the same issues. JB
  17. Bronze plaque tarnishing

I'm going to go out on a wild limb here and call out the manufacturer for creating a botched alloy. From the looks of the untarnished portion, I'd say there's a disproportionate amount of yellow brass. And the first clue is the bright green in the lower righthand corner. And if you look at...
  18. Happy July 4th

And to all you "keepers of the flame", here's hoping your Independence Day celebration is a meaningful one. JB
  19. What numbskulls approve these layouts?

Yes, it was a blessing ceremony. JB
  20. What numbskulls approve these layouts?

    I have a sneaky hunch they also have a "RES55CUE", a "LAD11DER" and an "AMBU22LANCE". And perhaps even a "CHI15EF's" car. JB
