  1. Customer artwork 110 GB!

Ask any kid straight out of school. They will tell you that when you design for print all art must be CMYK and 300 ppi. Then ask them about bleed in a file and you will get a blank stare. I have a number of customers that insist on setting everything up at 300ppi. I constantly get Indesign...
  2. Fujifilm Sericol UV inks

Just a quick update. I tried running some black coroplast with a white underprint and the adhesion was horrible. I am not sure if it was the coro or the white ink. BTW, I run the NH inks in my XL1500 as well and absolutely love them.
  3. Keep rulers visible in Illlustrator?

This is how I do it on CS5 for the mac except the "New Document Profiles" are located in a different area. Just create a new document with the settings, size, and color space you want and save it along with these files. Any new documents will have the same settings including the rulers...
  4. Illustrator page size?

No way that I know of but why not work at scale? I use 10 to 1 scale for pretty much everything over 10'. Just move the decimal point 1 place to the left and be sure your placed images have 10 times the res you would normally need at 1 to 1 scale.
  5. Allen Datagraph

New would be better but this plotter would not be for use with my company but for home use instead. My budget for this pretty much dictates used or cheap. I am more afraid of the USCutter & GCC offerings than this machine. I emailed ADSI yesterday and received 2 immediate and helpful responses...
  6. Fujifilm Sericol UV inks

I run sericol EF inks in my Inca Spyder 320. So far, I like them well enough. The color is great. The ink jets well and we have had no problems with our heads. Adhesion is good on everything I run including coroplast. I have noticed that adhesion on acrylic is not as good as it could be but I am...
  7. Allen Datagraph

I have been looking for a used vinyl plotter for a few months. I came across a Allen Datagraph 1036 with a automatic take up reel and a computer with CassMate software in working order that is still in use. From the photos, this thing looks like its built like a tank but I can't find much info...
  8. Stilts anyone???????

I used to do a bit of construction in college and we had a set of stilts for sheet rocking ceilings. I never used them enough to be totally comfortable on them. I found that I needed use one hand on the ceiling for bracing.
  9. Real World Color Management

The three that are on my shelf are as follows: Real World Color Management Understanding Color Management Postscriptum on Color Management

I am not sure about other companies but I send texts to verizon customers by sending an email to their phone in this manner: 5555551212@vztext.com replies come right back to my email.
  11. Looking for the best Spectra Head Cleaning Machine on the market.

Vutek makes an upgraded cleaning station for their spectra - nova heads. Is this the type of heads you need to clean?
  12. pole banner hems

Hemmed or not is a matter of preference. I see both but usually go without the hems. We also place a grommet at the top of the pocket so the banner can be zip tied to the post. I guess some people like to take them down.
  13. The List of Questions

I find that the most important question is to ask what the clients expectations for the sign / graphic are.
  14. Suitcase Stickers

I wonder if TSA would think so?
  15. Illustrator file size gets too big!

Try this. Place your images but do not check the box to include linked files. When you save the file, uncheck "PDF compatible file" and "include linked files". This file will probably be less than a meg but is not print ready unless you use Postscript. It will however be nice and small and allow...
  16. Wierd Color (HELP)

ProfileMaker is my program of choice since I left ColorBlind for version 3 of ProfileMaker. I have taken a cursory look at i1 share but not much more. Xrite has announced i1 Profiler which with replace both ProfileMaker and Monaco Profiler. Supposedly, the application will provide the best parts...
  17. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

I am afraid that this might be a RIP issue and not the heads. Are you using ColorBurst? I found that the version of ColorBurst that I was using was not using green or orange ink on the linearization and profiling targets. Consequently, none of the profiles I created were using green ink. I...
  18. Wierd Color (HELP)

Unfortunately no. Actually, I dont recall what the aperture size is on the i-1. I think it is 6mm.
  19. Wierd Color (HELP)

I am not familiar with the fabrivue but very familiar with ColorBurst and Vuteks in general. My experience with both the 5300s and the PressVu UVs was that they were difficult to read in strip mode with an Eye-One using ColorBurst's SpectralVision Pro. I think ColorBurst profiles well but...
  20. Wierd Color (HELP)

Another interesting thing you may try is to try handling the color management on the client side. Copy your profile over to your workstation. Rasterize the background as others have suggested using the profile you created in ColorBurst. If you still see the line, then you know it is the profile...
