Many times the head would be replaced and a credit card kept on file if Roland did not cover the head under warranty. If the manufacturer finds the head to be truly faulty, all done but paperwork. If it is proven otherwise, then who foots the bill for the new head?

The head needs to go back to Roland for testing, as it would with most manufacturers. In my experiences, Roland has been very up front and more than fair when it comes to Warranty. Your dealer can only do so much, but it sounds like they have handled it "by the book" so far. Keep us posted.

What cutter and driver are you using?

Roland has "recommended" changing every 6 to 8 months. I have seen dampers over 4 years old completely full and still operating well. With different ink viscosity, hi-flow dampers can work better for some third party ink. My 2 cents.

More than likely need to replace the capping station - about $80 And possibly the dampers if they have not been changed. What ink are you running?

Not aware here. Do not have 8.5 dvd, only 8.6v2 but will check it out.

As for the ink cartridge position, I have seen a problem with the Roland printers not recognizing some cartridges. Gently lifting up on them from the rear end of the cartridge seemed to resolve the cartridge reading error.... So, I added a piece of 30 mil magnetic material to the cartridge bay...

Unplug the key and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Reboot the computer without the key installed. Then install the key and try again. If you have continued problems, call me at 1-877-602-4237 and I will try to help.
