  1. Anybody selling JV3 print heads?

We bought 5 from them one time, they worked fine. However they came with dampers that never did fit right and some eventually cracked. The heads though were fine.
  2. New print head

panel on the back side.. easy to get to. On more than one occasion I have come across cracked dampers around the rim. As a rule you should put new dampers in anyway when you replace a head.
  3. Stop me from streaking!

Are you running bidirectional? Try running in unidirectional mode and see if the problem goes away. If it does you may have enviornmental conditions in your shop such as humidity affecting the print.
  4. JV3-250SP - Weird line, misalignment, and aligned again after a few inches... Help?

Castek hit the nail on the head on 2 and 3 I also agree. I'm willing to bet #2 is caused by a drop of ink on your encoder strip.. I've had that happen more than once, if you can get it off it may be ok, as far as #3, removing the stop may fix that too. Worse case you'll need a new strip it...
  5. Mimaki JV3 connection question

you can buy a firewire card. JV3 has a parallel and firewire port. You can use a print server (small box with parallel on one end, ethernet on the other) to accomplish what you are wanting, basically running the ethernet cable up to 300' from the computer. We tried this however and found...
  6. do you use after market ink's

Bulk ink is all about cutting cost, sure you can still make money using OEM ink. Bulk ink by the liter you can cut ink cost in half. If you are into high volume this is a HUGE reduction in cost. Bulk ink is not for everyone as you will more than likely have to learn to profile your equipment...
  7. Roland to Mimaki

You're going to be hard pressed to find a Mimaki JV3 owner that doesn't like their printer. The JV33 has shaped up to be a respectable replacement. We run the time out of our mimaki printers, they are consistent and dependable!
  8. Help!!!!

Check the connections to the head, press them in again. That normally isn't the issue, as the printer will complain if they are loose. Did you do an ink fill up? From a dry line you can do as many as 4 to get ink into the heads properly. 1 or 2 is usually good if the line is primed right...
  9. Outrageous!!!

What is nuts is $2,500 for a printhead :banghead: Mimaki has always been terrible about inflated parts cost, for example fieldcenter (right here on this forum) is selling JV33/JV5 heads for $670 delivered. It is not hard to justify the parts only warranty if you are subject to paying an outrage...
  10. Outrageous!!!

wow, parts only.. parts and labor I could understand that number. Seeing how reliable our JV3s are I would say you are safe NOT spending that.
  11. are there directions on installing own print head?

It can really save some serious cash learning how to work on your own equipment. I don't blame anybody for wanting to do it themselves, but make sure you know what you're getting into. We had techs do a few heads for a us early on then we got serious about learning how to do it, I've done 6...
  12. JV3 cartridge chips - question

Most of the cartridges for the chips are designed as hollow reseviors. You fill up the ink in them through tubes or manually with a funnel. The sensor used to detect the bag capacity is not used anymore with an aftermarket cartridge. You will find when the sensor stops reporting the cartridge...
  13. Bulk Ink For Mimaki

We have used both mega ink and triangle (currently). Neither have ruined heads, both have advantages and disadvantages over OEM ink. My opinion OEM ink is still the most hassle free solution, but the cost savings you can't ignore. Mega ink we got great blues/grays/skin tones/ivory, weak reds...
  14. Printer Wide Format "WHITE INK" HELP

I'm confused as to what exactly the question is here, but if you're looking for a printer that will do white ink the Mimaki JV33 is one to look at. We don't use that setup, but the results with white ink was pretty nice. Check out the Mimaki booth at indy, they will be able to demo it for your.
  15. JV5 and Triangle Ink

Anybody using Triangle bulk ink their JV5? Care to share your experience? The cost benefit is obvious, but what about color, drying time, etc. We use it in our JV3s, but we are investigating for the JV5. Thanks
  16. Cyan prints where it shouldn't

yes, if it has ink spots on it this will cause random issues similar to what you are having, look on it in the general area you are having problems. It doesn't take much ink to cause an issue.
  17. Cheaper ink than standard mimaki?

Based on your city, and you mentioning advantage. I assume you bought your printer from them too? I would call them, they sell triangle and stock it in indy. It works pretty well. Advantage is good about supporting their products too.
  18. JV3 head help

take the back cover off and to expose the pumps. Crimp the yellow line, it has to hold fluid when you do this, otherwise you need to take note as to where the fluid is going because the only place it can go is down the tube. You can soak the head in the fluid to keep it loose. Odds are you...
  19. Ink Every Where!?

Yes, that is one sign of a bad pump. The station should hold fluid.
  20. Graphtec 7000-130 question

I think in gp-gl mode it flew right past the marks because the step size was not correct. It probably needs to be 1024. Look in your manual about where to set this.
