  1. Onyx Cut Server Question

Seems like every day we are fighting some issue with onyx. We need it because of the work flow features it has,but it continues to have nagging issues.
  2. Onyx Cut Server Question

There is a work around for this (not a fix). A tech explained this to me. When you are in preflight in the tab where you punch in the size there is a check box "crop outside of page" (hope that is right, i'm not at work). This should be checked, you then need to drag the dotted crop area line...
  3. Where to buy printheads?

There isn't anything magical about these print heads, the thing is to buy it from someone that will replace it if it is DOA or has missing nozzles out of the box. Advantage stands behind their stuff, we know from experience. We bought 3 heads on ebay earlier this year for $550 each with...
  4. Head Alignment issue

Sounds like you need to go into maintenance mode and redo the alignments. You will typically need a magnification device to do it properly. You should be able to go in there and rerun them and it will not wipe out the old values, you will probably find that either for yellow or magenta on one...
  5. Dead PC...any ideas?

I have run into an issue similar to this. Power supply can provide enough juice on one rail to spin up the fans, but not other things sometimes. If you have a spare psu from another computer just to try I would sure do that first. Building a pc can be very frustrating without known good...

yes ditto on pulling the plug. Also here was another thread I posted in about changing dampers, has some other helpful info http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40255
  7. Replacing pumps and dampers

Kurt, here is the manual. This is the head replacement manual, but the damper procedure before and after removing the head is what you need to know. http://lonetechie.com/share/jv3headreplacement.pdf
  8. Replacing pumps and dampers

kurt, there is a pdf service manual floating around with images. I know it is posted on the mimaki user group on yahoo. The head replacement manual has the damper replacement procedure in it.
  9. Replacing pumps and dampers

Kurt, I recommend using the search feature in this forum, damper and pump replacement has been covered many times I believe. Pump replacement is very simple, remove a cover that exposes the two pumps, remove a screw securing the pump and two hoses. That is literally it. It is really...
  10. JV-3 (WIPER ERROR) Issue

There just isn't much to that wiper mechanism, it is most certainly ink build up. You should be able to move it by hand with the machine powered off fully out and in by hand and not feel any resistance or "rough" spots. That will cause the error.
  11. Replacing dampers on JV3

Few things Gary didn't mention... 1. Be sure to remove the damper retaining plate, it is directly over the dampers, you'll need a semi long philips screw driver to get the screws loose (no need to take them out) the hole is notched so it will slide up. Make sure you have firm pressure and a...
  12. Is this normal?

This is normal. We don't typically ever print in 4 pass, it is difficult to stop banding using our bulk ink and it the printer can actually put down more ink than the lines can handle. 4 Pass is giving the ink alot less time to dry which I think you'll find is alot of the banding problems. If...
  13. Need help

When the printer heads seat on the capping station, a seal is made from the rubber on the capping station pressing up against the heads. Like eforer said, the pump also completes the seal by closing the drain line. This functionality can be verified by doing a disway wash, fill your capping...
  14. jv3 130 spII stops printing no info

Seems the SPII series can sometimes recover from an error such as an IF board error. I found this out one day when I let a banner tube roll into the power button of the pc running our 130SPII. The printer will beep, flash the error, then stop printing. On the SP(160/250) and old firmwares the...
  15. Need help for cleaning a Mimaki JV3-130SPII ( Stored without cleaning???)

if printer has been sitting unplugged that means no ink has moved through the system. It will dry in a matter of days in the heads. This will ruin the heads. Odds are if it has been unplugged the heads are shot, you can always turn it on and try to see what you can get, but probably going to...

  18. Desperate need of a mimaki JV3 part!

Hi guys, we are are in need of a Mimaki JV3 Take up motor assembly. I've talked to 5 big name sign suppliers and all are telling me the part is back ordered from mimaki, 4-6 weeks delivery time. :omg: Does anybody know of anyone who stocks this part? E101604 take up motor assembly These...
  19. Mimaki wiper seemes to be stuck

griding noise is the gears behind the wiper that have gotten ink build up on them. This is common on all 3 of our printers. There is a panel on the back of the printer that will make it very easy to scrape the build up of ink off the gears. It probably won't move because there is is link...
  20. Start-up Graphics Biz for my Son

$750? Yep, it can be done, I've done it. Now can you get a "decent and reliable" plotter for less than that (you need some vinyl to start with too)? That is the question, you will have to buy used but it may be possible to get a used plotter to fit your "decent and reliable" requirement. It...
