  5. Serial cable requirements for CNC

As I recall, you can get the adapters in both configs. So, you would get one regular one and one null one. Or just add a separate null adapter at one end.
  6. Serial cable requirements for CNC

We used to have a Unix box with several dumb terminals for our POS/Invoicing/Workflow system. The terminals were connected to the Unix box via ethernet cables with serial adapters at each end. A couple of the cable runs were over 100' and we had no problems.
  7. Network/speed significantly reduced. Why???

Okay, fair enough. Just 'cuz I've never seen it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. I have seen CPU and chipset fans directly controlled by the MB and these usually take up both (all) available pins for that purpose. Oh, well....

  11. New Monitor

I don't think you understand how an LCD works... LCD is a steady state process and does not require energy to maintain a state, only to change it. The pixel is not opening/closing 60 times a second or any amount for that matter. It only changes when the colour info for that pixel changes. For...
  12. New Monitor

There is flicker (a small amount) from LCD screens -- not from the LCD itself but from the backlight, which in most cases is fluorescent. Newer displays have LED backlight, which also flickers. Wave your hand in front of a screen side to side with your fingers spread wide and you will see...

  15. New Monitor

The headaches won't be coming from some weird mix of colour "temperature" The problem is flicker. Fluorescents flicker. At 60 Hz. LEDs flicker. At some other frequency. Flicker is tiring on the eyes at 60 Hz. Combining the two creates an interference pattern which can be even more...

Can you take a screenshot of the same dialog box that Roto put up to show us what your current settings are?
  17. Please help with layout.

So, what's the big deal? Every stock site allows you to download a low-res watermarked image for comping purposes. That way, you need only buy the image if the client approves it.

  19. Couple-a-Things / Scavinger Hunt

Try an electronics supply outlet (the kind of place that sells resistors, transformers, transistors, etc...). They usually have an assortment of project boxes and all the stuff that goes with that like rubber and plastic gromets that fit in drilled holes for power cables, etc. For bigger...
  20. X5 converting things to CMYK

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, you've created thousands of CDR files using X3, and did not save any of them with a colour profile embedded? If that's the case, then it looks like X5 has taken note of that when you open one of these files, and is offering to assign the default...
