Try this link. Magnets are considered a dangerous good by the FAA and IATA. They have to have a magnetic field smaller then a certain amount. This link clears all your questions up.

You can set it up so whenever you post to a thread you are automatically subscribed to it. I believe this is actually the default setting. So if you posted to a thread before then that's why they are in there.
