  1. Discussion Comparison question Summa Vs; colex, Gerber etc.

Troy, I suggest you ask the bloggers at this site what it is exactly that your client wants to know. I believe most important is what will be your customers primary application? Quark suggests there are three categories, A (Zund, Esko), B (Summa), & C (Colex, Gerber, Multicam, & others)...
  2. Vendor for custom shape/design HIP reflective signs

Signed Out, The HP Latex/3M/SAI Traffic printing system, is currently available through Grimco, Montroy, Denco, and 2 others. The Avery TrafficJET system is marketed through Avery. 3. Vendor for custom shape/design HIP reflective signs

Signed Out, I would venture to guess that ANY signshop in America with a digital printer could print your graphics for you. White HIP from 3M, Avery, Orafol, and Nikkalite is easily accessible through many resellers. The real issue is how long outdoors does your account require the signs to...
  4. latex print and cut combo (335) GO or NO GO???

Your original post was on May 16. It has been almost a month and folks have posted their thoughts. If you have purchased, "What did you decide upon?" If not, my suggestion. I believe you should ask your Dealer to quote you a HP Latex 365 with Onyx PS RIP, a SummaCut D140 (54" wide cutter)...

  6. Opinion on Summa F1612 (or any F-Series)?

Quark, A fair number of endusers creating decals will laminate their roll of printed graphics before cutting out the decal. The standard drag knife module that comes with the cutter often has difficulty die-cutting or cutting through the laminated graphic. Therefore, it makes sense to have...

  9. Need Help Looking for 72" x 144" x 090 Aluminum - Diamond Grade Reflective 3M

Sounds like you are trying to build an OverHead Highway Sign? Most all overhead signs are 72" panels as I don't think you will find extruded aluminum 6'x12'? You might try calling Vulcan in Foley, Alabama.
  10. Printer Options / High Intensity Reflective Signs

Mr. Bean, With regards to digitally printed Traffic Signs: Brief History - ARO thirty years ago, most ALL FHWA certified Highway and Street Traffic Signs were screen printed on 3M High Intensity Film. Since 3M was the only game in town for HIP film, 3M priced their product $6.00+ a square...
  11. Looking to buy a new printer - MM's please view

JT, Beware of deal deals! As noted by other posters, HP controls price points on Latex printers. The $15K price quote for a Latex 560 is about $2K lower than HP price point for that printer. Check with your reseller as they could possibly meet that price point with a DEMO unit. HP require...
  12. In search of.. a true lime green reflective engineer grade

Check out Orafol's Oralite V98 I think they have a flourescent lime green Bob
  13. Looking For Entry Level Cutter

The two Graphtec cutters are significantly below the $70K price point you noted. Their two flatbed models are limited in performance and for $20-$40K depending on model, budget a bit more and buy the Summa F1612. Without a router, once could be had for under $50K. It cooks!
  14. Reflective Road Signs

Kelcy, You can apply most any 2-mil CAST high performance vinyl direct to prismatic film and the sign should last outdoors 7-10 years without laminate. Any laminate you apply at this point should be anti-graffiti if sign is to be used where kids tend to tag them

  19. Problem with contour cutting on D140 Summa...

Todd, If you are performing print and cut, you need to make sure you are using the XY alignment bar between the bottom two regmarks. Check the setting "Alignment mode" and be sure it is set to "Force OPOS XY". If this is cut job only: You note you were using a 45 degree blade? Summa only...
