  1. Selling business - worth

Thank you everyone! I'll keep you updated. Whitehaus - that is an excellent point about the systems in place. It's definitely an area I have struggled with when it gets really busy. I've started going through all my junk and got rid of a lot of extra stuff. I think it would be wise to start...

  4. Selling business - worth

Howdy all, I'm considering selling my business and partially retiring. My kids are grown, they both moved to my hometown area about 40 minutes away. I have 3 properties and am looking to sell them all and buy one house and bank the rest of the cash for full retirement. I had a leg injury last...
  5. Laminator lines

My chinese cold laminator does that also, it goes away. Typically it happens at the start and if I stop, as you stated. I usually allow about 6" before the printing starts and then I try not to stop. And, if it doesn't work out that way, and I get the lines, they go away.
  6. What is your experience with the HP latex printers

    I love mine! I have the 315
  7. How's crime / theft in your areas these days?

Small town Wisconsin here. Not a ton of crime to speak of. My building has not gotten broken into. I used to leave the house doors open but cop bought the rental house behind me and is renting to his drug dealer sons. The police won't do "much" because his dad is a cop. We have 3 half-way...
  8. Not sure how to title this

My dad pulled some strings to get my son hired for summer help with an electrician a few years ago. He hated it and he wasn't good at it so he was not asked to return for following summer. It put the elecrician in a bad spot and my son wanted to quit and my dad told him he couldn't. Terrible all...

  10. Reflective Sign/Billboard how to

Since I waited until the last minute to do this I ordered 3 vertical panels of 6mm Alumalite. Jcskikis - it faces North so I should be OK with the print...I've never printed on reflective so I'm going to try it out. It's off from the road about 70' so I don't think the seams will be much of an...
  11. Reflective Sign/Billboard how to

Perfect! Would I do 3 or 6mm Alumalite?
  12. Reflective Sign/Billboard how to

I posted about a sign/billboard a while back. He wants to do a 100% reflective sign/billboard that's on the road. The size is 12' long by about 85" tall. It's there already with a plywood backing. It just needs the sign boards. The red part is going to be a separate sign that changes with the...
  13. Grimco Buys GSG

Oh boy...that is beginner level. They are selling those tiny little cutters and showing what you can do with pillows? Definitely residential. None of us in the apparel business use such a cutter nor do we make pillows for customers. What a joke.
  14. Suggestions How to get a jobs

To add to the great advice above, if you have any work you have done, start a social media page to show it off. I have a business FB page and TikTok but I hear of a lot of businesses showcasing on Instagram also. FB has done well for me over the years as my target audience is typically...
  15. Looks like an installation nightmare...

I did something similar in Fall. It was a PITA. I did a center hinge on top a ridge then used my 4' big squeegee in and out of the ridges. That part wasn't too bad it was going back and getting all the bubbles out that was the major pain because you had to catch the light from multiple...

  18. Self-marketing opportunity?

It's a sign shop! Signs are cheap for you to make, so why not? It's a blank slate, maybe something really creative and fun that's out of the ordinary. What would this be? I have no idea but I like the idea!
  19. Quickbooks Online - EstiMate Desktop

17 years ago I had Estimate linked with my QuickBooks but Estimate is out of business so you won't get help, unfortunately. I would suggest looking at another program and moving on from Estimate. One of the cheapest I was able to find is SignTracker and it does link to QuickBooks, although I...
  20. Advice for starting local print shop

I got mine off of Ebay, it was several years ago so not sure of the seller but they should all be the same if you get the Vevor brand. Other than that, I use Grimco, NGlantz and Fellers for substrates, vinyl and ink needs. If I order printed goods such as high quantity coro signs I use Signs365...
