  1. Software for laying out tile murals

We do all tiling in CorelDraw. Create a grid of 12 x 12 squares, combine them, powerclip the full mural inside the grid, break the grid apart, done.
  2. Hot or Cold Laminator

We have a "workhorse" of a laminator (25yr old SEAL). Cold/hot press. We only use heat for encapsulating but have since got away from that. Everything we do now is cold press with no problems. Vehicle wraps, window perf, intermediate vinyl for decals and/or magnetics. Matte, luster or glossy.
  3. Question 36" transfer tape handing and applying tape to vinyl

Takes practice by hand. We use both 48" and 54" transfer manually with no problems. 10-15ft at a time. Do you have a cold press laminator?

Yes, we do it all the time. Drop two seperate files into the RIP hot folder. Print side A flip and print side b. Side a has a cut & fold line, as well as, dots for grommet placement. Simply omit all that stuff for side B but include the blank perimeter of the banner if not a full edge print...
  8. Making Vehicle templates

powerclip is CorelDRAW's term for clipping mask. As for the "most people" comment. I think not. In corel I import my photo use a macro to scale it accordingly, then I begin to manually draw the vehicles shapes and body lines. The contour shape becomes the powerclip. I can then add lines...

  11. How would you deal with a low res logo file?

I agree with most everyone else. Sometimes a quick trace will get it done. Sometimes a quick redraw if simple geometric shapes and generic fonts. Another method is doing an advanced google search using the company name and specifically a pdf. 9 times out of ten the logo is embedded within a doc...
  12. Need Help Help with resolution

We don't use templates here nor do we design in illustrator. CorelDraw allows designing at 1:1 scale. It wasn't until recently that illustrator finally jumped on board to allow designing at scale. We try to use the highest resolution raster elements available. Yes, sometimes when scaling an...
  13. Moving masked objects

define "super high definition" dpi? Illustrator's Clipping Mask might be your answer. I work in Corel myself so it's Powerclip. We don't typically use template but I have occasionally. I select all the shapes that make up 1 side of the vehicle and "combine" them as 1 shape. I then powerclip all...

  15. 30 second radio ad?

We ran a radio ad a few years back on the only rock station within our area. The business owner had a musician friend create a "wrap" song. Too funny! Wish I had a copy of it.

  17. Creating Layers in Corel

Hold Alt key and marquee select shapes, anything the marquee touches will be included in the selection just like the annoying illustrator way. As for layers, I don't have use for more than 3. Cut decals will get a "cut" layer, a reg mark layer, as well, as a "Punch cut" layer. All print only...

Here in "god awful hot florida" we pull it out of the climate controlled wrap room and park it and call the customer for pick up. Only thing we tell them is not to wash it for a few days.
