  1. Whoa!!! e-mail Graphtec about 64 bit driver support and just see what happens!

That response was hilarious. I wonder if it's a language barrier thing: "this decision will hurt your business I'm afraid." Maybe he misunderstood that to mean you plan actually hurt people at his business or otherwise hurt them in a more serious way than financially? That's the only thing I...
  2. JV33 to print Roland Versawork Print/Cut Crop Marks

ugh... best guess: Get all the settings (including crop marks) the way you want, then choose to save rather than print. Save it as a .prt file. Then use one of the prt-to-pdf converters like PDF Converter Pro. Once it's a PDF you can do whatever you want with it, including drop it back into versa.
  3. Font help

any better pic? With the top text modified, you almost have to go on the bottom text alone to figure it out. Reminds me goudy old style bold (but there are some differences, don't think that's it) or baskerville.
  4. crop mark error...uggh!

I think if you search the forums for the words 'detect crop marks' or 'crop marks problem' you will find some other people's issues and fixes on it... from memory, I think one fix was to squeegee hard over the marks to get rid of any silvering and make sure they're easy to see, and if you're...
  5. Boot issues!!!!! Please help!!!!!!

I don't think it's a virus, this is a POST error, meaning before windows even gets loaded. Most viruses target windows, as just making some dude's computer not boot isn't any fun. There are some that can attack the bios but it's fairly rare. But, checkers makes a good point by saying it isn't...
  6. Rush / job Problems

One more bit that might be helpful to you... you can send the print and cut jobs separately (at least to versaworks) and get them to cooperate as long as there are no differences between the two jobs, sizewise. So you can send the jpg into versaworks, and print it with the nicer colors, just...
  7. Need a to smooth out gradiant fade

Also, when you rasterize the gradient and open it in photoshop, the gaussian blur filter can smooth things out quite a bit before adding noise.
  8. Font Help Please

Churchward types were once offered under one foundry, and as part of a chank.com font pack, now they are being offered by "bluhead studio" Apparently they aren't serious about selling their fonts, as the website offers nothing except a few samples, and these link you to myfonts, which probably...
  9. The Polished Turd Contest - VOTE NOW!

I loled a lot at EXTREEEEM GRAFIXXXXX ... there are so many wannabes out there who abuse that same barbed wire and tribal tattoo crowd with junk like that. For sheer home basement quality and that microsoft word look I loved "seedy fonts" with impact super demi black.
  10. Font Help

you're right, my bad, it's in the same vein as visigoth but not really the same at all. But a search on visigoth at the myfonts forums enabled me to find the real deal. It's called "Stylish" from the (now dead) font foundry olduvai...
  11. Has Anybody Seen This Image?

Not sure how good the example is that you currently have, but I found a 900 pixel wide version and a cleaner 840ish http://otrmaps.files.wordpress.com/2006/08/catalhoyuk.jpg http://www.secondat.com/images/catalhoyuk2.jpg That 2nd one could definitely vectorize with the autotrace tool, after a...
  12. Help with font

Myriad web, pro, pretty much the same thing, except web is optimised as a display font for smaller text on screens, and pro is the name for the whole family package with bold, italic, etc. Everyone should have myriad pro (I think built in with illustrator?) and failing that, a full set of the...
  13. Font Help

Visigoth. http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/agfa/visigoth/visigoth/ edit: maybe jumped the gun here. Was my first thought but some of the letters are off. Maybe a semi-nice knockoff where they actually tweaked some letters. I'll keep looking.
  14. !%#@*&*@ Flexi

A fix I've often had to use with incompatible EPS files is this: Rename to .ps Double click and let acrobat distiller distill it into a PDF Open PDF in illy (may not always be necessary) Save as a PDF or older EPS that you know flexi likes. This is especially useful to me because my illy is...
  15. Versaworks 3.0 chokes

Probably nothing to do with your issue, but is there anything funky about the files that are locking up? Gradients? Pattern fills? Maybe a weird double-byte or multiple master font? A bitmap that somehow ended up with a weird resolution like 5ppi or 900ppi? Will it lock up even on a totally...
  16. need profile so i can print from flexi

Did someone say it might be in 7.6, and 7.6 is a free upgrade from 7.5? I was annoyed that it wasn't in flexi but going through versaworks and using versa's profiles has been pretty easy for me, I like the results.
  17. OH my! Font help.

lol I noticed all of the fonts on their catalog follow the western theme... mesquite is on there too. Random font nerd trivia: Bleeding cowboys is modified from "oklahoma". Futura is over 80 years old, probably shouldn't be represented by 'future girl'. French Script is over 100 :o
  18. Hey Shovel what's this?

We got a foot+ of snow and my car isn't going anywhere... miserable. Yet the pizza delivery guys were out the other night in the middle of it. Gotta meet them at the foot of the drive tho.
  19. Price Posting and Discussion at Signs 101

Dang this discussion is still raging on. I have no problem with people posting their pricing. What they charge has nothing to do with what we charge, though it might give some clue as to what we ought to charge. Everyone's pricing differs based on so many things from area to size of the shop...
  20. The majority of your applications: Wet or Dry?

I voted dry but by no means are we against wet. There's just no reason to waste that sweet, sweet rapidtac on every little site sign and door decal. Certain situations call for wet (like the 20 foot lightbox graphics) and when those situations come up, we work that spray bottle.
