  1. General Formulations GF830 Automark vs Arlon SLX+

We're testing the FG 830 to replace 3M. It's their CAST vinyl... not calendered. So far... so good.
  2. Cloudy splotches in 3M 8518 gloss lam

So I'm testing the New General Formulations 830 with the Optically Clear Overlam... it's about $400 less than the 3M180/8518 kit for the same longevity and install feels very similar. It's still $100 cheaper than the 175/8518 kit without the 30% adhesive remaining issue. The quality control...
  3. Cloudy splotches in 3M 8518 gloss lam

I'm seeing this to be further into the rolls now, not just at the end... AND... in just about EVERY ROLL. If 3M doesn't fix this quality issue... it will NO LONGER be the ONE OVERLAMINATE I buy for ALL of my vinyls. Period.
  4. high temp vinyl, is there such a thing?

Same issue with a couple customers here in the Bluegrass. Solution was to bolt ACM boards to the Ribs of the truck and use that as the surface.
  5. HPL560 Head Carriage Belt broke... maybe in market for an upgrade to 700 Series

It's not been 700 rolls yet but it's not a "poor maintenance" issue as the head carriage belt is part of the "Maintenance Kit" that my printer was due for anyway. I'm not angry it finally gave out... I'm angry it took forever to get customer service to .... get us going. They finally did...
  6. HPL560 Head Carriage Belt broke... maybe in market for an upgrade to 700 Series

Haven't been able to get them to give me a quote much less schedule the technician to come and do it (along with the scheduled maintenance kit) been trying for 2 weeks and talked to TWO representatives... one of which said she escalated it to priority and I'd get a quote within an hour, it's...

  8. HPL560 Head Carriage Belt broke... maybe in market for an upgrade to 700 Series

Anyone know of a supplier who is offering trade in deals AS WELL AS has customer service and technicians who can service Central Kentucky?
  9. Question Going rate on color change wrap

We get about a dozen inquiries a month for Color Change Wraps.... and as much as I hate leaving money on the table or saying no... I tell them NO! We ONLY do Digitally printed Commercial Wraps. I used to spend time with each person explaining why... but then found it's just faster to refer them...
  10. Signs365 Alternative??

I'm in the same boat... I'll reach out to FireSprint... hopefully they can get close to the price and arrival time that Signs 365 can. If so, I may just switch to them for all my signage.
  11. Semi Trailer Price - Help

So, because you've become more proficient, offering your customer their product FASTER... you would charge LESS?? Think about that for a moment. Most businesses offer "faster service" as part of why they are WORTH the price difference. NOT why they should charge less. You're doing it wrong.
  12. Need Help UV Printed Cast Vinyl Cracks and comes unstuck after 6 months

It's like saying... I keep making fires with aluminum logs and they don't burn. Is there any solution besides using flammable material in the fire?
  13. Suggestions Business Insurance covering auto graphics

Just add "Garage Keepers" rider to the policy.
  14. Printing Issues with 3M SV480mC Wrap Material

Something crazy happened yesterday. Latex ink on Reflective vinyl... came up with the laminate (completely separated) on a piece weeded out... I've NEVER seen this before. Looks like a Print on clear vinyl....but I promise it's not.
  15. R10 laminate separate from hi-tack vinyl

Well THIS is a first. The HP Latex ink stuck to the overlaminate when separated. (Reflective vinyl) So I imagine the plasticizers or whatever in the reflective migrated heavily to the surface during the curing process (heat) so much so that they created an almost solid layer at the top, with...
  16. 3M Materials Shortage

Nevermind, They're out of it now as well...because of the shortage.
  17. 3M Materials Shortage

Ok, Since I tried and HATED the Orajet, I'll give Briteline a go on YOUR recommendation.
  18. Is this new............................................. ??

The Political Correct "wokeness" will start bleeding more and more into our industry. I won't be surprised if we start seeing more of these types of threads where the "Designs" are called into question because of how some group or person may take offense to it.
  19. HP360 Lamination Problems

Soo... basically, it's HP's Ink but they want to add as many other variables as possible so as to look like it's a combination of OTHER products or practices that cause the failures. Nice. I will say their claims about how many issues were reported may not be "up to date". We've had this problem...
