  1. VG2 (640) Printhead Issues - Fuzzy print

It was the print head. I was lucky enough to have a friend who's a service tech slip me in today. We replaced the black/yellow head and everything is fine now.
  2. VG2 (640) Printhead Issues - Fuzzy print

Got a printhead on its way. Appreciate the feedback. I have done a workaround to get me by while I wait, namely making a custom spot color under VersaWorks/Edit/Spot Color Settings/ New Library, New Spot Color. I called it No Black Black and then added the spot color to my swatches in my design...
  3. VG2 (640) Printhead Issues - Fuzzy print

Probably a printhead replacement needed, but I thought I would throw a post up in case someone has experience with this. Cyan has been getting bandy, but out of the blue black is shitting the bed hard. 1. See attached photos (IMG_6520 shows the problem) 2. Note all test prints are acceptable...
  4. (Roland VG2) Veresaworks Printing Grey (gray) prints pink - Solution

I will do some testing to confirm this. Thank you.
  5. (Roland VG2) Veresaworks Printing Grey (gray) prints pink - Solution

I have tried everything, every shade and colorspace. The only thing that remotely works is to create a custom spot color, but when I enable the RIP to use the custom spot, the dithering goes to hell and I get grainy prints. The settings I shared work for now, but like another member mentioned...
  6. (Roland VG2) Veresaworks Printing Grey (gray) prints pink - Solution

Hmm, I always thought "Use Embedded ICC Profile" was the ICC profile actually embedded within the document. Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flexi all have the options to embed ICC profiles. I have always kept this feature unchecked or ignored so that my RIP overrides the embedded. Are you sure you...
  7. (Roland VG2) Veresaworks Printing Grey (gray) prints pink - Solution

I agree, however... You would think this would have already been done, making a profile that prints grays as grays. I understand dialing in close colors to perfect colors, but no profiles which I have tried are anywhere near the "Close" portion of gray. They are not even in the same planet let...
  8. (Roland VG2) Veresaworks Printing Grey (gray) prints pink - Solution

Super frustrating when the gray prints pink, am I right? I have no idea why Roland ships straight out of the box with this obvious undesirable issue, but they do. I have gone through a massive amount of setting and color values in an effort to print a clean gray color and a massive amount of...
  9. the operating environment is not appropriate for versaworks

An update to my above fix: TLDR: Turn off Anti-virus, Uninstall VW, Reinstall VW. Works 60% of the time 100% of the time. Just had a recall to fix this issue again and since my customer's setup was pretty stock out of the box we didn't go through trying to save Queue settings or job files, and...
  10. 0.0" width sp300v

    ebay listing for data cable
  11. 0.0" width sp300v

The data cables are available on ebay, but the mylar strips are not. Someone here should build a cut file and share it so we can make our own. Maybe I'll do that next time.
  12. 0.0" width sp300v

100% the data ribbon attached to the cutter carriage. I just replaced it on my SP-540V due to the same issue. Mine had a wire in the run that was darker brown compared to the rest. I assume this was a short or just normal over a long life of use. Pretty easy to replace, just need time. Tip...
  13. Please help Cyan not printing or printing black on SP-300v

cornholio is right as well as having a kickass name. The Captop caused this issue and it will return if you don't do something about it. You can go into cleaning service mode to expose the captops or you can power off and manually lower the captop from below (probably best to do it by the book...
  14. sp540 urgent problem, help!!

That's a super interesting problem and I look forward to seeing the resolution. I also have an SP-540v and I have experienced something similar to this a couple of times; once from running my bulk cartridge dry, and the other from my cap damper leaking air at the hose fitting. Anyway, easy...
  15. Adjusting From Spot Color

Yeah, spot colors are really good when you have your printer/rip dialed to replicate pantone colors accurately. Unfortunately, most of us don't have the skills, resources, or care to make this happen and so we have to make compromises in order to achieve our color goals. Here are a few...
  16. Need advice to buy a laminator.

GFP all the way. Royal Sov is garbage in my opinion.
  17. VG2 Captop replacement

    Freakin boss answer!
  18. Need Help Roland VS-300i Printhead troubles

Hmm, I had the very same issues and cleaning the encoder was the only thing that fixed it. I would say try cleaning it again, and try to clean the sensor that straddles the encoder strip. I think you can slip a lens paper cleaner between the strip and sensor. Anyway, sorry you are dealing...
  19. Need Help Roland VS-300i Printhead troubles

Looks like a dirty encoder strip. Take a lint free cloth with 70% rubbing alcohol and carefully clean both sides of the encoder strip. Be very careful not to twist it or kink it.
